"No, no, no, this is after all something you've given a lot of effort to, it's better to keep calling it the Sarote Institute."
Rejecting Professor Sarote's proposal without a second thought, Orion doesn't give him any chance to convince himself and walks away without saying a word.
By really putting his name in front of the institute, it was possible that this guy would have to brag about it to a new level the next time he met someone. Moreover, hanging his name as a prefix on the front of the institute always gave Orion a strange feeling. It was as if the target of the research was not the material, but himself.
After careful consideration, he decided to let it go.
The next day, the first academic meeting of the American Mathematical Society for the new year kicked off at Berkeley.
For the sake of this academic conference, the students at the University of California even postponed their planned protest until a week later.
While Princeton professors were usually indifferent to politics, not all of them were.
Professor Tao, for example, is a typical example of this.
Although in life his students mostly describe him as a tolerant, shy, and modest person, on his personal blog, Tao's online persona is quite the opposite of what he is in his personal life, and his biggest hobby is pointing out things.
For example, not long ago, he proved that Trump could not be a good president through the lens of logic, which was covered by a number of media outlets. And Trump's tweeted rebuttal was quite interesting - "Tao claims I'm not fit to be president, but liar Hillary is fine. And the truth is, Terence, that kid only targets me because he's a failed analyst. He can't even prove Kakeya conjecture, sadly!"
However, what comes around always comes around.
Terence hasn't updated his blog lately, and it's clear that he's not in the best of moods.
Of course, although the students and professors in California did not have any good feelings towards this president, these hiccups would not affect the atmosphere of the academic conference, after all, academics were pure, and this was what countless scholars insisted on.
Orion made his way through the hustle and bustle of the poster presentation area and went straight to one of the lecture theatres located on the first floor and found a seat in the back row.
After sitting down, he realised that the person sitting next to him was Professor Tao.
Giving him a somewhat surprised look, Orion asked, "You're here too?"
Professor Tao smiled and joked, "This is a good opportunity to spy on your progress, of course I won't miss it."
Orion chuckled, "Welcome, better help me out with it."
While the two were talking, the presentation started.
The audience in the venue gradually stopped talking to each other and turned their eyes to the reporter on the podium.
Vera, who wore a golden ponytail and was dressed in a somewhat student-like manner, nervously stepped onto the podium, her small white hands constantly squeezing and unclenching.
With the help of the staff, she opened the prepared PPT, and the title of the paper appeared in the centre of the curtain.
[A complex analytical study of the Collatz conjecture equivalence equation h(z^3)=h(z^6)+{h(z^2)+λh(λz^2)+λ^2h(λ^2z^2)}/3z]
