After completing the last step of the operation, Ethan packaged the resulting data and looked at Orion next to him, "The main deceleration phase of the iterative algorithm is complete, the spatial coordinates of the positions of the near and far moon points as well as the speed and direction of the rover have been obtained, I'll send it to your mailbox?"
Orion, who was doing the calculations, didn't even look up and said, "OK."
Ethan: "OK, what's next?"
"...... Schematic of the satellite trajectory around the moon and satellite landing orbit geometry, data parameters here, the plotting is on you." Handing the almost full A4 paper to Ethan, Orion started the next calculation.
Scanning the data on the paper, Ethan skillfully switched from Matlab to SAS, which was more specialized in data plotting, and replied expressionlessly, "Okay."
The two of them worked quite well together, fighting on their respective areas of expertise.
At exactly twelve noon, Mia gingerly walked into the computer room and placed two McDonald's on the table, along with two cans of coffee.
"Dinner is served."
Ethan got up in a hurry and took his share, squeezing a smile from his facepalm, "Thanks."
Mia naturally responded with a smile before walking back over to Orion and handing out the paper bag in her hand, "Hey, yours."
Orion didn't even look up, "Put it on the side for me, I'll finish counting this step first."
"Okay!"
At nine o'clock in the evening, Mia yawned and went back to bed. And at ten o'clock, Ethan also went back. As the main fighter tomorrow, he had to sleep enough today.
......
At 3am, there were only five people left in the computer room.
At 4am, Orion was the only one still sitting in front of the computer.
As the sky outside the window glowed with an early morning light, Orion finally wrote down the last line of the arithmetic.
The door pushed open, and Ethan walked in.
"Done?"
"Done ......" Orion let out a long breath, "The basic modelling is done, all that's left is programming, plotting, and sensitivity analysis by observing the changes in the simulation results. When you're done, I'll start on the second half of the paper."
Ethan nodded, "I'll take care of it, go get some rest."
"Hmm."
Orion pinched his brow and shook his head as he stood up and headed out of the computer room.
Compared to those late nights during the summer holidays, this level was nothing.
Orion couldn't remember exactly how he got back to his dorm room, only that after pushing the door open, he didn't even take off his clothes, flopped down on his bed and fell asleep.
And when he woke up, it was already dusk outside the window.
Sitting up from the bed, Orion rubbed his messy hair, fished out his mobile phone from his pocket and checked the time.
Vaguely, he remembered that it was six in the morning when he got to his dorm room.
"Slept for twelve hours? ......"
Next sleeping would have to wait until the game was over.
Going to the bathroom to wash up, Orion went straight to the computer room.
When he arrived, Ethan was just finishing the last program.
Mia wasn't there, but got his meal for him, and it was even a little hot to the touch, it should have just been brought over not too long ago.
Settling his dinner, Orion went to wash his face, dropping the takeaway box off at the bin outside the corridor on the way.
When he returned, Ethan pushed up his glasses and stood up from his position, saying.
"I've finished the program, and the source code used for the three questions; I'll be back at 3am, the thesis is on you."
"OK, remember to set an alarm clock, don't forget."
"Got it." Ethan nodded and turned to leave.
Like a relay race, Orion sat down at his computer desk and stretched.
It was now seven o'clock in the evening, and there were still 37 hours left before he had to submit his thesis.
In those 37 hours, he needed to integrate all the algorithms, modelling ideas, procedures, including further generalisations to the three problems, all on a twenty to thirty pages paper.
No matter how exquisite the model, how smart the programming, what is finally presented to the judges' table will be in the form of a paper. If the paper could not be understandable to the judges, so that the judges could also grasp the subtleties of it, then winning the prize would be impossible to talk about.
Therefore, this last step must not be sloppy!
Orion, seemingly oblivious to the time, focused on the computer screen, typing his hands as fast as a burst of shadows, just like his smooth and meticulous thinking.
The abstract at the beginning of the paper, the keywords, according to the format requirements to control within a page, Orion wrote after a simple cut, just to meet this criterion.
No one knows the whole modelling idea better than he does, so this was incredibly easy to do.
Next comes the most tedious part of the argumentation process, which is the best part of the paper, and although it doesn't take up too much space, it's the most time-consuming part of the paper to complete.
This is because it involves not only mathematical modelling ideas, but also programming ideas.
The former Orion knew in his heart, while the latter needed to communicate with Ethan in order to complete it.
Time passed by, and the sun, which had completely set outside the window, rose again and slanted into the sky once more.
As night fell, Orion finally finished the last line of the extension part of the question.
Stretching, Orion stared at the paper with sleepy eyes and yawned to himself.
"...... Next up are the references and appendices, finally getting around to finishing up."
Hands on the keyboard, Orion copied the titles of the references and pasted them.
[
...... Lunar Soft Landing Gravity Turning Orbit Design and Analysis (C), Second Academic Conference of the Professional Committee of Deep Space Exploration Technology of the National Astronautical Society-2005.
...... Research on Terrain Obstacle Detection and Avoidance Program for Manned Lunar Landing, Aerospace and Remote Sensing-2014, 35: 11-19
......
]
In total, six references are cited.
In a final step, Orion took Ethan's code and copied it in the appendix section at the end of the document.
Standing behind Orion, Ethan pushed up his glasses and looked at the text on the screen and asked, "Done?"
"Well, it's all done, check for typos for me, and if it's okay, convert it to PDF." Standing up from the stool, Orion shook his groggy brain, "I'm going back to bed, I'll leave the MD5 code generation and uploading to you."
"Just go," there was a moment's pause, a rare caring word from Ethan," and be careful on your way."
"Yeah." Orion nodded and headed out the door.
