Avoiding Coach Edison the next day is an easy task, since I am not part of the athletic team, so I thought. I was surprised when I saw him at the hallway. Our eyes met with one another, then I drop my gaze on him and take an alternate route to go to my class, every now and then he will appear out of nowhere so it is not a surprise that during lunch he went to our table
"Hello, may I speak to Eli Reed?" Coach Edison said, everybody in our table looked at him, Missy nudged me so I lifted my head to him
"Do you have a minute Ms. Reed?" He asked me, I nodded and he gestured me to follow him. I stood up from my sit and I followed him. We pass through the corridors in to the gym. Rob is talking to Mr. Jefferson when he saw me following Coach Edison behind, they are both at the door of Mr. Jefferson classroom
"Hello Coach Edison" Mr. Jefferson greeted him, he stopped and say Hi
"I did not notice you both there Jay and Rob" he chuckled.
"What are you doing with Ms. Reed at lunch time?" Mr. Jefferson raised his eyebrows, if Rob knows the gossip about Coach Edison for sure I know Mr. Jefferson is aware too
"Taking her into my office, I wanted to show her something , you know Tim was in my team and he had left some stuffs there" he smiled. Now I understand that despite many gossips about him, he still hasn't been caught – he lies, like what Rob and I do we lie.
But the way he lie is so perfect you will not doubt him, he even use my dead brother for crying out loud! Rob's eye is on me as I looked at him, moments like this when we can't talk our eyes will, I gave him a weak smile as he raises his eyebrows.
"We go ahead lads" he said, and looked at me for me to follow. I walked behind as we leave Rob and Mr. Jefferson.
We entered the gym and I look around shuddering, then we went to his office, he opened the door for me and I entered, he closed the door behind and I heard him locked it and pulls the curtain down shit! This is not good I think
"Sit down Ms. Reed" he whispered behind sending me goosebumps, I take my seat and he went behind his table, he sit down and clasped his hand together resting it on his table. I waited for him to say something but he just looked at me intently.
"I thought we are going to talk Coach?" I started
"Oh yeah I am sorry, I was sidetracked by your beauty" he chuckled. If I feel so uncomfortable earlier, it doubled right now. I moved my chair away from him
"So what do we need to talk about?" I looked at him and he smirked
"You know it" he simply said
"If you are going to ask me not to talk, don't worry I will not" I told him crossing my arms on my chest
"And why not?" He asked surprised
"Because it's none of my business" I answered. He did not say anything he just look at me as he brush his fingers to his chin, thinking ahead
"Or maybe you want it too" he softly said, my head turned to look at him
"What do you mean by that?" I asked, my tone a little higher. I heard the school bell rings ending lunch time, but Coach Edison did not dismiss me, he stood up and approached me and placed his hand on each side of my chair locking me in place
"You know Eli, I've been thinking about you ever since the Christmas Ball. You've grown into this daring woman that all men wanted to be with, no wonder that Benjamin kid is obsessed with you" he whispered leaning his face into me. I looked at him my pulse quickens, why did he brought Benjamin on this one?
