He was looking for a perfect rose he will give for his love of his life, he stared ahead remembering the day he met her, it was during the show of their school his aunt told him that he should come with her before enrolling to that school, to check if he wanted to study there.
He looked at the beautiful host in the stage, and he made up his mind and that's why he decided to enroll on that school. During his enrollment that day luck is on his as she was walking in to the hall way towards her locker. He is with his aunt, technically she is not his aunt, she is a distant relative who loves to play foster parent to them
"That's Eli Reed" his aunt whispered when he asked, of course in a little town like this every body knows everyone. He looked at the girl and she was bitting her bottom lip, how he wanted to that to her, she is beautiful and despite she is just wearing jeans and shirt, he could see how perfect her body is
"Let's go Benjamin, you can start tomorrow this is your schedule" his aunt said, he take a final look to the girl. He memorized her face so it will so easy for him to find her the next day, and he can use his schedule as an excuse to talk her.
The man stopped reminiscing when the door of the shop opened. He look at the door and smirked, it was her and of course behind her is her boyfriend holding a small box of cake, his hands automatically curled into balls upon the sight of the man with her. He adjusted his bucket hat and sunglasses to make sure he will not be recognized.
"The usual?" The lady in the counter asked
"No, let me check first?" She said and scanned the room and she saw him. Their eyes briefly met for a few seconds and her eyes move pass him and continued to scan the area. A sighed of relief washed over his face, he did not went incognito for months for nothing, he changed his identity and looks as much as he can.
But he can't deny that there is a rush of thrill he felt when their eyes met for a brief second
He worked hard for everything right now, and when he said hard, he doesn't care if it's legal or not. He was in luck to robbed his father's savings leaving him broke and homeless he don't care because he never help him, he deserved it he thought.
He planned this so long not to succeed, he learned his lessons from all his attempts in getting the girl of his dreams, he wanted to make sure that this time he will have her
"Try tulips" her boyfriend said, and he took one and gave it to her
"Wow it's beautiful" she smelled the flower and cupped his boyfriend's face, the man's lips automatic turned into curl, and he wanted to punched the stupid face of Robert Bailey - her boyfriend
"Like you" her boyfriend said, her boyfriend looked around before briefly kissing the tip of her nose. The man who was observing groaned silently, it should be him kissing her, it should be him holding her, it should be him saying those words to her.
The man saw her blushed and she turned to the lady at the counter and ordered four bouquets of tulips, she turned back to her boyfriend who is holding now a single peony on his hand.
"Idiot" the man softly cursed, does he know that red rose is her favorite flower?! He doesn't really deserved her!
"Happy Birthday" he greeted her, idiot! he curse again yesterday was her birthday, but the girl get the flower and inhaled it as if it is the most beautiful thing ever
"My favorite" she said, the man looked at the girl shocked
"Is that so? I thought red roses?" Her boyfriend asked
"That was before Benjamin ruined it, you know that right?" She said, the man leaped with joy when he listened her saying his name
"Of course that's the reason why I never gave you one" he winked at her, the man's hand curled in to ball, he had taken a lot from him now, so he's the reason why the girl don't like red roses anymore huh? but he promise that the girl will like it again, after all red roses symbolizes love and passion, and he have so much love and passion for the girl.
"So after we visit my family let's go to Ray's?" She looked at her pathetic boyfriend
"Sure I would love that" her boyfriend replied, then they wait for their flowers as the man went behind the buckets of flower to continue to gaze at the couple. Once they leave the man got a single rose and paid the lady to go to the diner the girl is pertaining to.
He entered the diner and the owner greeted him, he hates it! He greets him with so much joy and it is too noisy for his taste!
"Hi I am Ray!" He happily said, but his smile fades as he looked at the man "Are you new here?" He asked him as the man removed his glasses
"I am just visiting someone" he answered and checked the menu, and based on the tone of voice of the man Ray knew he don't want to have a chat
"One grilled cheese sandwich, diet coke and fries" the man said
"That would be $4.75" the man named Ray said, he paid in cash and went to sit at the table near the door, he bring out his newspaper and started to read, after a few minutes his order arrived.
He sipped first on the diet coke, and continued to read his paper, but his excitement just started to build up and the more he think his plan, the more he smiled.
After an hour, the door of the shop opened, he did not looked at it but he knows it was the same couple he saw at the flower shop. He held the newspaper higher to hide his face, but his ears were all up.
He listened how the cashier talked to them, the cashier was surprised when they told them that they are now together, and he gave himself the credit of predicting their fate. The man clutched on the newspaper when he heard the cashier commented the hickeys the couple have, the couple just laughed from the comment and went to give their order.
They sat few tables away from the man so he can't hear their conversation, but he still observed them, once they were done eating they called the cashier to sing the girl Happy Birthday and they gave him a cake. When the cashier went back to his counter the man stood up
"I heard the woman over there is having her birthday, can you give this one to her?" He raised his hand and gave the single rose to cashier. The cashier looked at him and hesitantly get the flower from the man. The man takes one look at the couple, and he imagined himself as her boyfriend soon he thought then left.
The cashier looked at the flower on his hand and waited for the man to drive his car away from his diner, and looked at his favorite customer, the girl have been through a lot and she doesn't need to receive the flower from a creepy man so the cashier went to the back and decided just to throw the flower in the bin
