Chapter 8

~Lydia's POV~
I saw a tall teenage boy walk out from the back room. He had dirty blonde hair and crystal blue eyes.
"Yeah?" He asks Isabelle.
"Jace wanted you," she says walking to the back room.
"I'd like you to meet Rosie and Lydia," Jace says looking at Rosie. Robert stood there not answering and Jace was about to say something but then he realized he was looking at me.
"Um hello," he says shyly.
"Uhhhhh," I stand there awkwardly realizing a cute guy was talking to me. Robert chuckled and held out his hand. I took his hand and shook it and when he let go I pulled back quickly.
"Those are interesting clothes, where'd you get'm?" He asks me.
"Oh, uh I made them," I say fixing the twig holding up my hair.
"Interesting. Well I like them," he says.
"Hey we are about to get off if you two have some time you could join us for lunch?" Jace asks.
"Ummm," I stand there staring at Robert.
"Look who can't speak now," Rosie says laughing.
"Come on, join us," Robert says smiling. I noticed he had something metal on his teeth.
"What's that?" I ask pointing to his mouth.
"What?" He asks confused.
"The metal," I say.
"Oh. They're braces," he says smiling to let me see them better.
"Braces?" I ask confused. Robert and Jace looked at each other in shock.
"Um, have you never seen braces?" He asks. I shake my head kind of feeling embarrassed now.
"Well they straighten out my teeth," he says casually.
"Where are you guys from again?" Jace asks realizing how uneducated we were.
"Um," I say, "it's complicated."
"How so?" Robert asks.
"We live in the woods. We grew up in the forest and this is our first time in the city. In fact this is the first time ever talking to anybody besides our family," Rosie says suddenly gaining confidence.
"Really?" Jace asks her. She nods and Robert looks at me and I nod as well.
"Okay, well how about that bite to eat?" Robert asks kind of smiling now.
"Um sure," I say getting a little more comfortable all the sudden. We walk out of the farmers market and walk across the street. We walk into a small building filled with people and an amazing smelled filled my nose.
"What is that?!" I ask and the sound echoed through the the building. Everyone turned to look at us and the guys laughed as Rosie and I stood there in awe.
"This is Burger King," Robert says.
"What is Burger King?" Rosie asks.
"It's a place that sells food, you'll see." We walk up to the front counter and the guys order all of our food.
"What do you want to drink?" Robert asks me.
"Water," I say surprised you are just able to get water whenever you want here.
"Rosie?" Jace asks.
"What?"
"What do you want to drink?"
"Water," she says. They both look at us but laugh and soon we are sitting at the table and they were unwrapping something that I've never seen.
"What is that?" I ask Robert.
"It's a burger, you got one to. They are good, try it." I unwrap my burger and stare at it.
"It looks scary," I say. The boys just laugh but me and Rosie look at each other in confusion.
