Chapter 28

~Lydia's POV~
I went back inside and stirred the stew slowly, waiting for Rosie to come home. Robert came up behind me without me knowing it and made me jump when he spoke.
"Upset?" He asks. He saw me jump and backed away.
"Oh! Oh no no you just scared me," I say noticing he backed away.
"Oh," he says coming towards me again, "well you okay?"
"Yeah, just worried about Rosie," I say taking the stew off the fire.
"Oh," he says. I sit down and Robert sits down next to me. I put my head in my hands and sigh then sit back up and fiddle with my locket.
"You know," he says quietly.
"Yeah?" I ask still playing with moms locket.
"You're a good sister," he says seeming as if he didn't want to say that.
"We look out for each other," I say.
The door opens and Rosie stands in front of us.
"I need to talk to Jace," she says before we had to say anything else.
"Upstairs," Robert replies.
"Okay thanks," she says and tries to go upstairs but I stop her.
"What?" She asks.
"Come sit by the fire," i say, "warm up." Rosie sighs but comes and sits down next to me. Travis was still cutting wood as dad sat next to him skinning my kill. Robert smacks a mosquito off of his arm and Ethan comes outside.
"Where you been all day?" Robert asks.
"In my room," he says. He walks over to Travis and says something but I couldn't hear him. He takes the ax and starts chopping the wood and Travis joins us at the fire.
"Well I'm going to go talk to Jace," Rosie says standing up. I nod and I put my hands in my pocket.
"Cold?" Robert asks.
"Hands are," I say quietly.
"Well here," he says. He reaches In my pocket and grabs my hand and holds it.
"What's this?" I ask.
"It's the way a man shows he cares for someone," he replies smiling.
