Dario’s laughter still echoed faintly in the broken room.Veer’s grip tightened around his collar, fury barely contained.

“You think this is funny?” Veer said coldly.

Dario only smiled, blood on his teeth.
Before Veer could press further—
His phone rang.

Sharp. Sudden. Cutting through the chaos like a blade.

Unknown Number.

The entire room went still.

Even Aarav’s voice on comm paused. “Sir…?”
Veer slowly released Dario and stood up, eyes never leaving him. Then he answered the call.

Silence.

Only faint static.

Then—
A soft mechanical beep. And a familiar sound.

Sanjana’s voice.

Weak. Muffled.

“Veer ji…?”

His entire body froze.

“Sanjana,” he said, voice low but steady. “Talk to me.”

A distorted male voice replaced hers.

Calm. Cold. Unfamiliar.

“You move fast, Mr. Veer.”

Veer’s eyes flicked to Dario instantly. Dario was smiling wider now.

“You should have checked all the chess pieces,” the voice continued. “You’re at the wrong board.”

“Location,” Veer demanded. “Now.”

A quiet chuckle.

“You have twenty minutes.”

A metallic door slammed somewhere in the background of the call.

“She’s in a place where air runs out faster than hope.”

The line crackled.

“If you try to trace this call or involve more of your little army…”

A sharp sound followed — like something heavy being dragged. Sanjana gasped faintly in the background. The sound stabbed through Veer. The voice returned.

“Come alone. Or she stops breathing.”

The call disconnected.

Dead silence.
