"Veer ji..."
He turned, his gaze still guarded.
"I am not talking about this... I am talking about the mistake I did."
Veer's eyes sharpened, a flicker of pain crossing his features.
"Not even in my life."
Sanjana's heart sank, but she knew she...

AUTHOR POV
Two days later…
Sanjana slowly opened her eyes. Her vision was hazy at first, the bright white ceiling blurring into shapes she couldn’t quite recognize. The faint beeping of machines filled the silence around her. Hospital. The realization came slowly.
She shifted her gaze slightly—and then she saw him.
Veer.
He was sitting beside her bed, his head resting gently against her stomach, one hand tightly holding hers… as if afraid she might slip away again. Her fingers moved weakly.
The slightest movement— But enough. Veer stirred instantly. He lifted his head, eyes opening in a second. The moment he saw her awake, something in his expression broke—relief, exhaustion, fear… all at once.
“Sanjana…” he breathed.
He quickly cupped her face, his touch careful, almost fragile.
“Are you okay?” he asked, his voice softer than she had ever heard it.
Sanjana looked at him, her lips curving faintly. She nodded.
“You were unconscious for two days,” Veer said, his thumb brushing lightly against her cheek. “I hope you’re feeling better now.”
“Almost…” she whispered, her voice weak but steady.
A small smile appeared on Veer’s face. He leaned forward and pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead, closing his eyes for a brief moment—as if grounding himself in the fact that she was finally awake.
After some time, the door opened and the doctor walked in. He checked her vitals, went through the reports, and nodded with satisfaction.
“Everything is fine,” he said. “She’s recovering well. She can be discharged by this evening.”
Veer exhaled quietly, a weight lifting off his chest. Sanjana glanced at him.
For the first time since everything happened… There was peace.
Later that evening, Sanjana was in their bedroom, resting against the backrest of the bed. The soft lights of the room gave everything a calm, comforting glow—but her body still felt weak, drained.
She let out a slow, heavy sigh and tried to sit up properly. Even that felt like effort.
After a moment, she reached for her phone and dialed his number. Veer picked up almost instantly.
