> plot; when a broken bicycle leads hyein to meet a mechanic's daughter's with oil stained her cheeks and the prettiest eyes she's ever seen.- 💌 -
- third person pov -
rain hadn't fallen in days, but hyein still found a reason to be there-the nearby open garage between the antique shop and bakery shop.
she had gone there for the first time when her bicycle chain came loose and she didn't know how to fix it, leaving her drenched under the rain that fell on the earth. thankfully, she noticed the open garage, and got her bike fixed by the mechanic's daughter with pretty eyes she ever laid her eyes on.
and hyein is here, again, in the open garage for the fifth time in a week. she's basically get there purposely just to see y/n.
her bike leaned perfectly fine against the side wall of the garage. no flat tires, no weird chain sounds, and not even a squeaky brake she used to complain every single time. now she's pretending to inspect her handlebars while stealing glances at the shorter girl crouched beside an old car's open hood.
y/n had a little smudge of oil streaked across her left cheek, her slightly messy hair tucked into a low ponytail as she worked with the kind of focus that made it hard for hyein to look away. her hands moved smoothly like how her father used to teach her on a random wednesday. right after she tightening bolts, she hums in approval to herself as she wipes the sweat off her brow with the back of her hand.
hyein leaned against the chair, trying not to look too obvious as she admired her. "you're always have to that focus look on your face," she began with a grin.
y/n didn't look up. "well, probably got it from my dad," she replied proudly, the corners of her lips twitching upward. "i'm his only daughter, after all."
hyein chuckled, stepping closer to y/n. "yeah, i can tell. both don't even wipe their face when it got stained with oil," she pointed to y/n's cheek. "wipe your cheek."
y/n blinked, then wiped at the wrong side of her face. "this side?"
"nope." hyein walked closer to y/n. "still wrong." she smirked, then she reached forward and gently brushed her thumb over the spot, wiping the smudge clean. her hand lingered for half a second longer than it needed to, and y/n's breath hitched just slightly, enough for hyein to notice and smile to herself.
"there," hyein said, stepping back so y/n wouldn't get uncomfortable. "back to being the prettiest mechanic i've ever met."
y/n playfully scoffed, but the blush creeping up her neck gave her away. "is your bike even broken today, or are you just here to distract me again?"
"hmm, i think the left pedal is broken," hyein said seriously, placing a hand over her heart. "it told me it needed to see you."
y/n snorted. "yeah, right. broken left pedal." she walks to hyein's bicycle and inspect the problem, but it looks rather dirty with dirt and grass than broken.
hyein stood in a brief silence, the garage filled only by the low hum of the ceiling fan and the faint crackle of a radio playing an old song in the background.
