The dark silver Honda HR-V stopped on the light-colored gravel with a scraping sound just as Eve opened the door to the veranda. Her black shirt jacket pulled a little tighter around her upper body, and she raised her hand and gave the unexpected guest a friendly wave.

Dr Taylor exited the car, and a gust of wind dared to ruffle his straight blond hair. Not for the first time, Eve thought this man looked like he'd stepped out of one of Riona's cheesy novels. He had a straight nose and a polished jaw that wasn't missing much, and you could have - sigh - cut yourself on it. As always, he was clean-shaven, and only a slight shadow on his cheeks and chin gave a hint of a blond-brown beard. He also had a charming smile and slim hips, making his figure quite respectable. His skin was slightly tanned, as if he spent his free time in the sun rather than in the surgery.

'I would also like to be examined by Dr Taylor. The man is like honey from top to toe ... I'd give anything to lick him once. Rawr!' Riona's words flashed through Eve's mind, and she almost forgot to breathe for a second. Only then did she remember that Dr Taylor - thank God! - could not read her thoughts. Nevertheless, her cheeks were a little rosier than before as Dr Taylor climbed the steps to the porch.

"Good morning, Miss White," he greeted her with the kind of smile that made the ladies of Silvershore weak in the knees. Eve also felt the effect of the smile Riona had raved about, but it didn't weaken her.

Dr Taylor had style; you had to give him that. He wore dark grey trousers, black leather shoes, and an almost black shirt with a patterned tie that matched the color perfectly.

Nevertheless, she felt uncomfortable in his presence. Although he wasn't wearing the white doctor's coat, neither his smile nor his casual clothes could hide the fact that he was a doctor. At the moment, just the thought of surgery or the white coats was enough to make her feel sick.

"Good morning, Dr Taylor," she greeted him a little more stiffly and motioned for him to come in. There, she led the young doctor into the cottage's living room. "But Eve will do, really. Would you like something to drink? Coffee or tea? And perhaps some biscuits to go with it?" she offered, pointing to a basket of biscuits she had set out for the other residents of Pineview.
