NO!

Amid the chaos, Eve grabbed the nearest object within reach. The pot was still on the table, filled with a hot, hearty stew. Eve's body shook uncontrollably.

She felt the burning, the pain in her face—as if it had never healed and the wound was fresh. Inside her, an old trauma fought against her will to survive and her love for her son.

It was a fierce battle... decided in a matter of seconds.

Her hand shot forward, closed around the handle, and with all her strength, she threw the hot stew and the pot at Jonathan.

The hot contents splashed onto the bastard, and he let out a bloodcurdling scream. As the pot clattered to the floor, Jonathan also dropped the gun, which landed in the hot broth. Roaring, he groped for his clothes and tugged at them as if that could make any difference.

Eve knew the feeling. She knew the pain that paralysed all the senses, impaled every thought. If he wasn't already furious, he was now.

"Liam! Get out of here! NOW!" Eve shouted. Her voice trembled with adrenaline and determination as she pulled her son off the floor.

Liam stumbled after her, his cheeks red and wet with tears.

She rushed with him to the broken balcony door, which had already shattered from the previous shot. But the shards lay before them like an insurmountable minefield. Eve didn't hesitate for a second. She grabbed her son, lifted him, and pressed him tightly to her chest. Then she ran across the shards.

Now she was glad that this psycho had at least put high heels on her—otherwise she would undoubtedly have collapsed with cut soles. For a brief second, she felt terrible because she knew she was leaving Chief behind and that this man could do horrible things to her beloved boyfriend. But she had to decide ... and at that moment, she had to flee.

She had to save Liam.

The darkness outside was a first, hopeful shelter as they ran out into the cold night wind.

Her stumbling thoughts quickly gave way to other, racing flashes.

They had to flee! Escape! Quickly!
