Nervously, the former blonde and newborn Read-Head's gaze slid to the Bar Riona had chosen for tonight. Located at an exit off the nearest highway, the... well, out here, you might call it a club.
The round-roofed building hummed with the loud rock music that flooded out from inside. It wasn't surprising that Ri had dragged her cousin to this establishment; after all, there was a lack of options in the area. Plus, the motorcycles and the row upon row of tough guys lined up in front of the place proved that this was precisely the kind of 'shed' Ri had chosen for a girls' night out.
"You'll drive me mad if you fiddle with it all evening," Riona said, turning to Eve to grab her shoulders. Since they left the cottage, Eve had probably looked in the mirror ten times, tugging at her hair and clothes, and Riona was beginning to wonder whether she should find it cute or moan about it.
"Leave it alone!" she said and flicked Eve's hand, who was fiddling with one of the now reddish strands again. "The hairstyle looks good. The color looks good! YOU look good!" Ri emphasized slowly, her lips forming a soft smile that couldn't hide the mischief. Eve still didn't seem entirely convinced. "Even Ray was speechless," Ri added, wiggling her eyebrows teasingly. She couldn't stop the corners of her mouth from forming an even wider grin when she noticed Eve's caught expression.
"Nonsense. That's... Nonsense!" Eve stammered, and a chuckle rose in Ri's throat as Eve's cheeks instantly turned red with embarrassment.
Please, she wasn't a fool. Ri had been stifling mischievous comments about the way dear Ray had stared at Eve when he saw her in the outfit SHE - and she was pretty proud of it - had chosen for Eve. It had taken some convincing to get the young mother into those clothes, but Riona was sure that Eve no longer regretted it - and Ray still owed her for it. Riona knew that Eve typically wore slightly loose and loose clothing. But she wasn't a withered, sixty-year-old widow who had to stare out of her window all day and mourn her passing. The problem was that Eve had yet to understand that.
Heavens, Rio knew it herself. Once your self-confidence was shattered, it simply took time to realize your worth.
"Eve, I'll tell you a hundred times: you look good. You're a beautiful woman; you just have to see it for yourself." Riona withdrew her hands and ran them through her wild blonde curls once more. "Tonight, we're just going to have fun, okay? We'll drink, dance, and laugh together! Just try not to think so much for one night."
