#Chapter 38: Just Lie.

"What did Dylan James had to say?", that was one of the questions when everybody else in the room stood quiet and waited patiently for my answer.

I looked at Marco. What was I supposed to say? Truthfully, I had no idea since I never really tried asking Dylan, but I don't regret it, though, it's too late to even think about it.

"Siyempre masaya siya, tinutulungan pa nga niya ako.", sabi ni Marco.

"Would you like to tell us more?"; "Anong tulong?"; "Magbestfriend pa din ba kayo?", sunod-sunod na tanong ng mga reporter kay Marco. I am saved, ngayon lahat ng tanong ay mapupunta na sa kanya.

"Yung mga tips ba, yung mga dapat gawin, ganun ka matulungin ang bestfriend ko.", confident niyang sagot.

"Mr. San Juan!", tawag nung isang reporter.

"Yes, Mr. Reporter?"

"This project was supposed to be a Mia-Lan Film, would you like to tell us why hindi si Dylan casted sa movie na ito?"

"It was a most-awaited movie and the producers put much thought on who to cast and surprisingly, nabigyan ako ng chance..", sagot naman ni Marco.

"Mr. San Juan, don't you think it's a kind of betrayal? Ang pag-agaw niyo sa ka-love team ni Dylan?", tanong nung isa pa.

"The idea was well-presented to us and Dylan took it well, even offering his help."

"Marco, paano na ang Mia-Lan Army?"

"Yung fans club? Member din naman ako nun ah, hahahaha.", sabi niya.

"What do you have to say?"

"Hi fans, ah, sandali lang naman po ito, hihiramin ko lang muna si Miaka sandali para sa movie na 'to, sana po suportahan niyo pa din kami."

"Do you have any thoughts on courting your leading lady?"

"Naku patay tayo diyan, haha, kakasabi ko lang na hinihiram ko lang 'to."

"So, no?"

"Ah, I have so much respect to Mia as a friend and to Dylan as a bestfriend that as we know, ay going strong with Mia, I would do nothing para madisappoint o magalit ang bestfriend ko sa akin."

Natahimik sandali ang mga reporters. I can't believe na ganito kaprofessional sumagot si Marco. I did not expect to act so well in front of the reporters habang tuloy-tuloy siyang ginigisa sa maiinit na mga katanungan, "And besides, Marco has somebody on his mind, right Marco?", sabi ko sa kanya.

"Ah, I prefer to keep it private at the moment.", sagot niya na dahilan para mabasag ang katahimkan.

"What about Miaka?"; "Paano ang real-life status niyo?"; "Did you not consider dating each other"; "Fake lang ba ang onscreen chemistry ninyo?", "Will there be a next project for you?"

Nung marinig ko yun ay bigla kong narealize ang maling ginawa namin ni Marco, tumingin siya akin na pinagpapawisan Dumami pa ng dumami ang tanong ng mga reporters, tryng to press our buttons, nakikita ko ring natataranta na si Marco. Di na siya makapagsalita at tuluyan nang nawala ang Marco na kani-kanina lang ay punong-puno ng confidence. Kung ako man ay matataranta din ako, yung sitwasyon na feel na feel mong magsalita nang magsalita not knowing na mali pala sinasabi mo, parang exam na pag nagtatanong ang classmate kung anong sagot mo ay confient kang mag-explain kasi akala mo ay tama, mali pala.

Tiningnan ko si Ms. Shei and she was nodding her head hesitantly.

"I guess malalaman natin ang future namin nitong si Marco after sometime, in the meantime, please do love and support our movie and our love team, Maraming salamat po.", tumayo ako at nagsenyas kay Marco na tumayo na din dahil tinapos ko na ang press conference.

"Salamat po", dagdag ni Marco at umalis na din sa stage.

Halos mag rambulan na ang mga reporters sa pagpupumilit na lumapit sa amin. Clearly, we did not satisfy them with our interview. They still had so many questions.

"I did not consider lecturing you two but I was wrong, it was badly needed.", sabi ni Ms. Shei na halos makalbo na sa kakasabunot sa sarili.

"I'm really sorry.", sabi ko.

"Alam ko na hindi kayo ganun ka bait sa isa't-isa ni Marco. Alam ko na madalas kayong nag-aasaran at nagkakapikunan but I thought you both understand."

"Sorry Ms. Shei", sabi naman ni Marco.

"Marco! Ano bang iniisip mo? Parang naghukay ka lang ng sarili mong libingan, what the hell was that?"

"Ms. Shei, I should've talked to him first.", sabi ko naman sa kanya, deliberately trying to save Marco.

"And I was wondering why you didn't Miaka, I don't usually get angry but this is just unacceptable especially from you two. I expected you to help him out, Mia. Him doing these stupid things and saying nonsense would be acceptable pero dinagdagan mo pa eh."

"For that, I'm sorry.", sabi ko ulit.

"I will say this once and for all, you two, are now a love team, you are teamed up so please think about and only do things that will make you look good. Forget about everyone, your past partners, your past projects, lahat! Haters? Bashers? Don't mind them, let them be, they make you famous. Next interview, both of you will be briefed and then you shall have no excuse for being unreasonable.", diin niyang sabi.

"Paano naman po yung ngayon?", tanong ni Marco.

"What's done is done, go home and think about your upcoming events."

And with one last glance at me, she left us in the dressing room.

"Hey Mia!", sabi ni Marco.

"Oh?"

"That was brave trying to save me, thanks."

"I was trying to same my own skin, let's just leave and think this through, I look forward to both our sound minds tomorrow, bye."

"Ok."

I stood up and started to walk towards the door but I aburptly stopped just be before grabbing the doorknob, a thought suddenly came to me, "And Marco, one thing, I think it would be wise not mentioning Jamie again."

"Understood.", he said in a very sad tone.

"And one last thing, I'll say this to help you survive, if you learn to just deny, it would be easier to lie, that makes a good stage actor."

"Ok, Alam ko."

That was the end of our conversation and I just left silently.

Leaving the dressing room and running into Mr. Albert Pardilla no longer surprised me.
