Nkosikhona's POV
She's still as beautiful as the day I first laid my eyes on her. She wasn't looking at where she was walking and accidentally bumped into me. The amount of times she apologised for that stupid mistake still makes me laugh to this day. One would swear she injured me but it was just a light bump.
I watch her come back with the broom and dustpan and she starts cleaning up the mess Rea made. The fake apology and the little smirk I saw afterwards made me realise that she did this on purpose. Why she did that, I don't know but it was unnecessary. I take my stuff and walk out. I get inside the car and wait for her to come.
After a few minutes the door opens and she gets inside and sighs. I bring the ignition to life and drive off. We drive in silence most of our way to work until she breaks it. "My friends want us to meet up this weekend." says Rea. "You can go I don't have a problem." I say. "No they want you to come too." "Why?"
"Hawu. Nkosikhona you are my husband and sometimes they miss you and want to make sure I'm taking care of you." she says and i fight the urge to roll my eyes. "I'll send them a message telling them I'm fine if they are that concerned about my well-being." I say. "Its just for a couple of hours it won't kill you." "No." She huffs.
"Why are you so difficult? I am your wife for heavens sakes so treat me like one and respect me." she says. "We only did this to merge the two mafias together but either than that nothing connects me to you vice versa." I say. "You do know that we are tied down forever so we have to make it work." "No I'm not aware." She clicks her tongue. I refuse to stay married to her forever.
"You can't force me to sit with your bougie friends that think having a man to provide for their lifestyle is all that matters. Their IQ score is very low." I say. "Their husbands will be there too." she says. "Those men aren't my cup of tea and they are idiots for being married to them." She sighs. "Please Nkosikhona you can't have me begging so early." "Nobody said bring this topic up." "Please just come just this one time."
"No." I deadpan. "You know what it's fine i can't keep begging you to come." she says. "I'm glad you understand." "Will you look after Khauhelo then?" "Yeah its fine i don't mind." "At least you agreed to one thing." "Don't bore me Reamohetswe its too early for your nonsense." "Mxm. Ho ne ho na le thuso efe ea ho mo lahla haeba a ntse a tla etsa manyala ana." (what was the point of getting rid of her if he will still act this shitty.)
I wonder what she just said but i honestly don't care. The rest of the drive is silent which I'm grateful for because her voice is annoying. I wonder who gave my dad the right to choose a partner for me all in the name of growing the empire. Now I'm stuck with an annoying woman for the rest of my life but I refuse to stay forever.
I get to her workplace and wait for her to get off. "I'll uber back home there are other places I need to be at." she says and i hum. "A kiss would be nice." "Yeah in your imagination." I say and she scoffs. "Bye." "Bye." She gets out of the car and gets inside the building and i drive off. She sure knows how to drain the living energy out of me.

Olwethu walks in with a whiskey bottle in his hand and sits on the chair in front of me. This one and alcohol, inseparable. "Mthembu udliwa yini? Umendo unzima ngaleyo ndlela." he asks and i chuckle. (Mthembu what's eating you up? Is marriage that difficult.) "There is nothing going on." I answer. "You look like you have the whole world on your shoulders start talking."
