Nkosikhona's POV
Three months later...He takes another sip of his whiskey and he makes the ugly face he usually does when the flavours start settling in. Whiskey ain't for the weak and it has an acquired taste that is not for everyone. "You look ugly when you drink whiskey so i think you should quit." I say and he shakes his head no.
"This is good it just takes a second or two to settle in properly." says Zithulele. "You drowning yourself in alcohol which is not good. If you want to be like me i would advise you to not do that because you have two kids." I say and he steals a glance at me and takes another sip.
"Nkosikhona you don't understand the pain i'm in so don't comment." he says and i sigh. "I know i may not have been through what you are going through but this thing of yours isn't working. I'm glad you talk to us whenever we get a chance to ask but does it mean that during those times we aren't asking you will do this to yourself?" I ask.
"Its difficult Nkosikhona nami i don't like doing this but its the only way to cope when the pain becomes overbearing." he says. "Instead of waiting for us to ask you how you are you can also come to us when it becomes overwhelming." I say. "Can we drop this conversation?" "Okay but always remember that I'm here for you." he nods.
"These days you are glowing care to share the secret with us." he says and we chuckle. "Quit alcohol you will be handsome like me." I say and we laugh. "The shade." "No offense." "None taken but tell me what's going on with you." "You get a glow when your partner takes care of you."
"Is this the woman you were telling me about a couple of months back?" he asks and i nod. "Clearly she knows what she's doing mowumuhle kanjena. Ngikhule nawe mtasekhaya kodwa angaze ngakubona umuhle kanjena." I roll my eyes and we laugh. (Clearly she knows what she's doing because you look handsome. I grew up with you my brother but i've never seen you look this handsome.)
"Udlala ngami wena Zithulele, I've always been good looking its just you that's jealous and now you claim that i'm ugly." I say and he chuckles. (you playing with me Zithulele.) "Ngiyadlala nawe hawu. Whose this person i want to thank her for giving you this kind of glow." he says. (I am playing with you.) "You won't meet her anytime soon."
"Why not?" he asks. "It seems like you have forgotten that i'm trapped in this horrible marriage." I answer and he chuckles. "Dramatic much." "I am not being dramatic you know its true." "Fair point. What are your intentions about her seeing as though you are already married?" "I want to spend the rest of my life with her."
"How are you going to do that? Its not like you can kill Rea because you will leave Khauhelo motherless and it will spark a war between our families." he says and i steal a glance at him. "Don't get any ideas of killing her Nkosikhona, do you know the problems you will cause afterwards." "I didn't say anything." "You didn't have to i saw that look."
"Calm down i know i can't kill Rea because it will overcomplicate things. I need to find a loophole in this marriage contract then take action afterwards." I say. "Hope you find something but i doubt you will, you know how dad is when it comes to business." he says and i sigh. "I don't know what i will do if that doesn't work out."
"A plan will avail itself just as long as it doesn't involve killing her because thats you poking a snake in its hole." he says. "She should get killed in one of her missions." I say and he chuckles. "She's the best you know thats future impossible tense." "Not if i organize it myself." "Nkosikhona Jayden Mthembu."
"Lighten up dude i'm just joking but my idea doesn't sound too bad and i can pull it off." I say and he smacks the back of my head. "Ouch idiot calm down i won't harm your sister in law." he clicks his tongue. "She's lucky she has a child cause i know i would have played dirty already." "Kuphuza mina kudakwa wena." (i'm the one that drinks yet you the one that gets drunk.)
