Nkosikhona's POV
"What do you mean she's been missing since Last Friday?" I ask. "We mean just that Nkosikhona. We've been searching for her but nothing. The IT man can't get anything." answers mom. "Where was she last seen?" "At Eastgate mall. She promised to call me later on that day to show me the baby clothes she bought but she didn't. On Saturday there was nothing so I told umah." says Rendani.
My mind is still trying to process what my mom and Rendani are telling me. "Why didn't you tell dad so he can tell me?" I ask. "I did but I thought you didn't care." says mom and I scoff. "What do you mean I don't care? This is my girlfriend you are talking about, the mother of my child and future wife. Why wouldn't I care!" "Your dad..."
"And you honestly believe that son of a," "Nkosikhona don't finish that sentence. Arguing and cursing your dad won't do anything right now. We need to find Onalerona and bring her safe and sound." says mom. "Does her dad know?" "I haven't had the courage to tell him." answers Rendani.
"Do you think its best if we tell him?" she asks. "No. I need to focus on finding her I don't need her dad on my case. You already know that he hates me so I don't need to give him another reason to hate me." I answer and she nods. "The IT man says there is nothing that can help us trace her. Her phone died just after she got kidnapped." says mom.
"Do the others know?" I ask. "Yes and they are worried sick." answers mom. "Okay," I don't even know where to start. I can't afford to lose Onalerona. She means so much to me, we have plans to get married and start a new life away from this mafia. I am ready to leave it for her because we both need a fresh start in life.
I need to find her. I can't lose her and our baby. I also don't want her dad on my case. I don't need to give him another reason to hate me. I still have to try and win him over and convince him that my intentions for Ona are pure so if he finds out that she went missing under my watch its over for me.
"I'll be back." I say. I take my car keys and head out. I get inside the car and drive off to the IT man's house. This guy better give me something concrete to work on. There is no way a person can disappear without a trace. What about the CCTV footage at the mall? Surely there has to be something. I don't mind sitting for 12 hours watching the same thing as long as I get a clue that's all that matters.
I get to his estate and the security allows me to go in. I get to his apartment complex and get out of the car and walk to his place. I knock twice on the door and I hear someone shout come in. I get inside and his eyes widen in shock. "Did you see a ghost?" I ask. "N..no I didn't expect a visit from you today." he answers and I hum.
"Thulani where is my girlfriend?" I ask. "Ona?" "No Onalerona. Where is she?" "I don't know she disappeared without a trace." "My dad hired you because you the best at what you do and what you are telling me now is bullshit. Where is Onalerona?" he gulps. "I don't know Nkosikhona." "Did you watch the CCTV footage of the mall?"
"Yes but there is nothing." he answers. I pinch the bridge of my nose and exhale slowly. I can't take out my frustrations on him. "We going to go through it again." "I've gone through it everyday but nothing." "Ngiyakhuluma uyaphikisa?" (i'm talking and you disagree.) "No Nkosi. We can watch again."
"After you." I follow him to his office and we go inside and I sit down. "Do you want a drink?" he asks and I scoff. "Does it look like I want a drink? I want my girlfriend and you busy telling me about drinks and all that bullshit." "I'm sorry." "Get to work." he nods and sits down. I sit next to him and watch him type away.
