Onalerona's POV
They call my name and i walk on the stage and i hear a few cheers from the crowd. I spot Nkosikhona sitting by the bar and his starring at me intently. Look what the cat dragged out of the mud. The song starts playing and i close my eyes and imagine myself in that serene place.
I end my performance with a split in the air and the crowd cheers louder. I get down and open my eyes and they make contact with him. He mouths 'you in trouble' and I roll my eyes. I never said ditch me for a month and then come back and expect me to come running to you. I do a little bow and walk off stage.
I walk to Mvelo and ask him if i have any sessions and i have four. Your girl is about to bonus tonight. I go to my first session and i feel someone grab me and drag me in the opposite direction. "Ouch o a nkutliswa botlhoko." I say and try to remove his grip from my arm but he tightens his hold. (ouch you are hurting me.)
"Nkosikhona ntlogele mahn." (leave me alone.) We get to his office and he pushes me inside and closes the door. "I have a session i need to get to move out of the way." I try to push past him but he pushes me backwards. "Who told you to dance for the crowd?" he asks.
"Who told you to leave me for a month?" I ask and he clenches his jaw. "I can explain." "I can also explain." He pinches the bridge of his nose and releases a deep sigh. "Explain then." "You left me for a month Nkosikhona; four weeks which is equivalent to 30 days and you expect me to sit and wait for you when i know i could be making serious money."
"I didn't mean..." "You didn't mean to what, ghost me for as long as you did. The first week passed and i was okay cause thats the time you told me that you will be away. But you saw that you aren't coming back and didn't have the decency to text me. The second week passes and still no decency to text me. Surely you travelled to an area that had some sort of signal to send messages or a please call nyana but nothing. So get out of my way i need to go and dance."
"You are not going out there." he says and i scoff chuckle. "What's stopping me?" I ask. "I won't be held accountable when these men disappear." "Nwe nwe accountable. Shut up Nkosikhona and get out of my way." "You had to ruin it by shouting at me you are staying here." He locks the door and takes the key out and puts it in his pocket.
He walks to his desk and sits down. "Why don't you get ready for my private session?" he asks. "I don't want to do this anymore." I say and he looks at me. "What don't you want to do anymore?" "This." "What is this?" "I don't want to dance for you anymore. When I'm at work I'm just your private dancer. I'm still going to give you a piece of my mind later as your girlfriend."
He chuckles and I roll my eyes. What's funny with what I said? "You not going to quit because I disappeared for a month." he says. "Why not?" I ask and fold my arms. His eyes fall on my chest and he stares at my cleavage for a while before he looks back up. "Because you are mine." "I'm not a dog."
"I'm not going to repeat myself Onalerona if you continue dancing for those perverted men I won't be held accountable with what I do to them cause you would have pushed me over the edge." he says. "So now i must lose thousands because of your possessiveness?" I ask. "I will make it up to you."
He makes a phone call and he tells the person on the line that I'm not going to be dancing anymore and that if i ever dance again for a crowd they must fire me. He drops the phone and i scoff. "I want to go home since i have nothing better to do." I say.
