Nkosikhona's POV

I get to Bergville after eight hours of driving. The will is being read tomorrow and we are needed to do the cleansing ceremony. Mom will still have to mourn for dad unfortunately even though they broke up before he died. Traditionally and legally she's still his wife so standard procedure needs to be followed.

I take out my suitcase from the boot and go to my rondavel. I leave my stuff on the bed and go to the main house. I get inside and its loud as ever. My grandparents had 11 kids, yep 11 and each of those kids had a gazillion babies. My dad is the sixth born and he has a twin. I do get along with the family but I'm not much of a people's person so I keep my distance.

I get to the living room and find most of my cousins and siblings there. "The runaway son." says Mphatho and I chuckle. "I needed space to grieve for the loss of my dad." I say. "Hope you weren't having sex with your girlfriend and infecting her with your darkness you still need to be cleansed first." "I'm a good man I don't do such." they chuckle.

I sit down and grab some popcorn from Zobuhle's bowl. "Get your own popcorn rubbish." she says. "You my sister and we come from the same womb so we have to share." I say and she rolls her eyes. "You annoy me piece of crap. How is my sister?" "Who is that?" "You know I'm talking about Ona."

"She's okay." I say. "Still tolerating your annoying ass." she says and they chuckle. "She loves my annoying ass look she's pregnant with my baby." "Umithisile awusitsheli Nkosikhona." says Mphatho. (you impregnated someone and you don't tell us.) "You were going to find out the day she comes here."

"When is that day?" asks Zenzozendoda. "After the lobola negotiations." I answer. "How far along is she?" "Seven and a half months." "You expecting a boy or girl?" "A boy we will try for a girl later." they chuckle. "Poor girl hasn't given birth and you talking about trying again later." we chuckle. "My son will be lonely so yes we need to start prepping."

"Amadoda bathanda ukukhuluma ngathi yibo abayothwala ingane inyanga eyi-9. The only thing you do is donate your sperm after that it's the woman's job to nurture and grow the baby do you know how difficult that is." says Zobuhle. (men love talking as if they will carry the baby for nine months.)

"Okay advocate for pregnancy and labour relations ward." I say and they laugh. "Zobuhle is right pregnancy is not easy and going into labour is even worse. Giving birth is literally a matter of life and death that's why the childbirth death rate is quite high and some women die while giving birth because its dangerous and risky." says Nonjabulo.

Why am I only finding out about this now? "And why am I learning such crucial information now." I say and they chuckle. "You guys are too busy saying we must grow our surname instead of learning about the risks of giving birth and pregnancy." says Zobuhle. "We will have two kids I don't want to be like ugogo nomkhulu." we laugh.

"Hayi those ones outdid themselves because what do you mean your pum pum bought life eleven times." says Nonjabulo and we laugh. "Nihleba ngami nithini bantwana ndini." says gogo and we laugh. (what are you guys gossiping about?) "We are commending you for giving birth 11 times back to back."

"Yini loku commenda what what." asks gogo and we chuckle. (what is this commending thing?) "Siyakubingelela ngokuba namandla okubuyela egumbini lokubeletha izinkathi ezingu-11 kuyinto thina ebesingeke siyenze." says Zobuhle. (we salute you for being strong enough to go back to the labour ward 11 tomes it's something we would never do.)
