Onalerona's POV
He gets inside the car and brings the ignition to life and drives off. "A o siame?" I ask trying to break the deafening silence. (Are you okay?) "Ke siame mme wena." answers Nkosikhona. (I'm okay and you.) "Ke siame." (I'm okay.) I missed hearing him talk in setswana. Even though i enjoy it when he talks in Isizulu because he manages to make my heart skip a beat but the tswana does something else.
I shouldn't be thinking about such things now. It's not like we will ever work out again. Just because the truth is out doesn't mean he will run back to me and it doesn't mean I will run to him. Married men to me are off limits thank you. "Did you manage to sort things out with your grandmother?" he asks.
"Yeah I did hopefully she will get better now." I answer. "Uphethwe yini?" he asks. (What's wrong with her?) "Her chronic medication has increased in terms of money and she recently got diagnosed with cancer. Her treatment will be expensive so yeah she needs money." "I'm sorry about that." "Don't be sorry it's not like it's your fault or you can do something to take the cancer away."
"She will get better don't worry. Do you have money to help her with the treatment?" he asks. "Yeah I do have money." What a lie...but it's not like I can tell him the truth it's not like he is my boyfriend or whatever. "At least." I hum. "Where are you taking me?" "To my place." I nod.
We sit in silence with only the radio playing in the background. I keep on stealing glances at him as he drives and every time he looks back I shy away from his gaze. I don't know why I'm acting like this it's not like he'll be mine. I think that thought needs to be tattooed into my heart because it seems to have other plans.
I can't have him even if I wanted to i can't and i think that's the part that hurts the most more than anything. Having to let him go again the second time. I should have told him the first time that girl came to me because I wouldn't be stuck in this predicament that I'm in now. It hurts not having control over this.
We get to his place after driving for forty five minutes or so. He lives in an estate in Bryonstan and the apartments here look gorgeous. In fact gorgeous is an understatement. I love the spaces between each apartment. You can tell the rich and wealthy live in this area. These are the areas the president wouldn't mind spending on but leave the rural areas underdeveloped for years.
We get to the last block and he parks his car. He runs his hands over his face and sighs. "Lets go inside." he says and i nod. I try to open the door but he stops me. "I'll open it for you." He gets out and comes to my side and opens the door for me. I mumble a thank you and he closes the door behind me and i follow his lead.
He unlocks the door and we go inside and my mouth literally drops to the floor. His place is...wow I can't even find the words to describe the view in front of me. It's just beautiful..gorgeous, I don't know which word would perfectly describe this place but the synonym for that word is beautiful. I would like to buy myself a place like this one day.
"Are you done admiring?" he asks and i clear my throat. "I'm sorry." I mumble. "No need to apologise I was just asking so I can show you the rest of the apartment." I feel my cheeks heat up and i clear my throat. "Yeah you can show me." He leads me further into the apartment and I'm just blown away by everything from the views, to the appliances, everything.
