Nkosikhona's POV
I walk in the kitchen and greet Ona and take out a bottle of water from the fridge. I just got back from the gym and i had an intense session. Things aren't bad between us. I'm not angry at her and I'm glad that the truth is out and i know she never cheated on me. That thought messed me up for the longest time and i wasn't okay but now I'm fine.
I open the bottle cap and drink my water. "Ouch sh..sugar and ice cream." she mumbles and drops the knife on the chopping board. "Kwenzekeni?" I ask. (What happened?) She opens the tap and puts her finger under the running water. "I just cut my finger nothing much." says Ona. "Let me go fetch a plaster."
"No I'll be okay." "Angeke ngiphikisane nawe ngaloludaba ngiyabuya manje neplaster." I say and she rolls her eyes causing me to chuckle. (I won't argue with you about this I'm coming back with a plaster.) "No need to roll your eyes when I'm this nice." She chuckles. "Phakisa Nkosikhona." (Hurry up.)
I fetch the first aid kit which is in the closet in the hallway. I come back and she's closed the tap. "The bleeding has stopped?" I ask and she nods. "Iza ngapha ngizokunceda." (Come this side so I can help you.) She comes to my side and sits on the bar stool. I take out the plaster, cotton and antiseptic. She places her hand in front of me and i pour a bit of antiseptic on the cotton wool.
She hisses when I start dabbing the cut with the antiseptic cotton wool. "Askies just two seconds." I mumble. (Sorry.) I take the plaster and wrap it around her finger. We stare at each other for a while and she clears her throat and breaks the eye contact. I missed starring into her eyes like this.
I also missed holding her hand like this. She has small hands and they are very smooth like a baby's bottom. Rea walks in and she scoffs. "Here I was thinking you were doing something serious but you are busy with her. Why don't you stay away from my man?" says Rea.
"Your man was helping me not that I wanted him here. Thank you Nkosikhona I'll be fine go and be with your wife." says Ona and i sigh. Such a mood spoiler that's for sure. I pack up the first aid kit and walk away. I put it back in the closet in the hall and walk to my bedroom. "Nkosikhona we need to talk." "Rea not now."
I get in my room and try to close the door but she stops me and enters. I'm not in the mood to be arguing with her right now. "Nkosikhona I want us to talk." she says. "I can't talk I need to leave." I say. "My family is coming so you can't leave." "I don't care i need to go to work." "Nkosikhona what were you doing with her." "I was helping her."
She folds her arms. "Oh really that helping sure did look cosy." she says and i roll my eyes. "Anginaskhathi sokulalelana nawe. I am not your husband this is just arranged why don't you get that through your thick skull." I say and she scoffs. (I don't have time to be listening to you.) "Our parents said we should make this union work."
"Which part don't you understand Reamohetswe, in order for us to work i need to have feelings for you and i don't. I always saw you as an acquaintance ukuthi wena you see me as something more that's your problem. This picture perfect fantasy you have in your head won't work out because I don't see you in that way." I say and I see her eyes glisten with tears.
