November 26th, 2021 - Seoul

Jeongguk woke up as the room was just about to start filling with bright sunlight that peaked through the windows. He felt tired even though he got a good night's rest. Well, not surprising since he lacked vital organ functioning!

It surprised him that he was able to sleep so soundly since even at home, he would sleep fitfully having to wake up many times in the night and then not be able to go back to sleep again. One of his dads kept him company on nights like that. Now they would be able to get good rest, he thought ruefully and smiled. It was a good decision to move.

He stretched his limbs and cringed at the sounds it made. Groggily moving out of the bed, he headed to the shower to get ready for his day.

It went fairly quickly, since the housekeeper had to be briefed. Also, the cook with whom he sat for quite some time discussing his dietary restrictions. Before he knew it, the movers were there with the rest of his stuff from home and he spent the morning setting up his room.

Since he was tired by the end of it, he had to call the doctor's office to move the appointment to the next day since it was impossible for him to go there, especially by himself.

Having a quick lunch, he took a much needed nap and again surprised himself that he was able to sleep.

It was late evening by the time Jeongguk woke up. The housekeeper and the cook had left for the day and once again he found himself alone and bored. Since he felt fairly refreshed, he decided to give his painting a shot.

He had chosen one of the rooms on the first floor to convert into his art studio and so made his way upstairs. He did take a short 5 minute break midway. Gosh, his health was pathetic. But having made up his mind, albeit slowly, he made his way to the studio.

The room was lit up well and since it had bay windows as an entire wall, he could see the outside scenery and even a part of the Han river. The view was a painter's paradise. If it was before, Jeongguk would've rushed to set up his canvas to get the creativity out of his system which pumped in his veins but now as he stared blankly at the magnetic view, he struggled to find even a bit of motivation.

How had he come to this? Him, a fucking prodigy couldn't even do something as basic as this?

Still, taking a deep breath he began the work of setting up shop. If the inspiration didn't come by itself, he needed to force it to come. That was the point of moving to a new place and starting afresh after all.

It took him quite a while to set up and he huffed as he finally finished. Taking a few tiny sips of water since he wasn't allowed much liquid, he looked at the blank canvas sitting ready for him to work his magic with it.

A minute passed, then five, then ten, yet all Jeongguk had done was stare at the canvas. Many times his hands moved to the paints to choose something to put in as the base but he couldn't go through with it.

What the fuck was it with this mental block..!

As more time passed, Jeongguk started to feel the anger rise up in himself. His hands had started to tremble and were itching to break the canvas and every single brush he owned. He wanted to smash the entire room into pieces, a room which was supposed to be his space, his safe haven. A place that would have brought him tranquility now only showed him how big of a failure he was.

Fighting the urge to destroy his precious art supplies, he made his way out of the room after switching off the lights. He locked the door behind him and stood there for a minute with his head against the door. His eyes prickled and his breaths were shaky.
