Taehyung was anxious. The past week or so Taehyung has been anxious because there was no letter from J. You'd think that he would be used to it by now, to not have any response to his letters but since he knew he was writing to J and not Jae-Hyun, guess his heart had hoped for a response right away.
Why would he take so long to write back?
Is he upset that I took my time to reply and now he's taking long to respond as well?
He would've written sooner but he wasn't sure what to do. Give Taehyung a break, he had received a reply after seven years and that had caught him off guard. Surely that's understandable. Truth be told he took the first few days just to come to terms with the fact that someone was writing to him!
Technically he was doing okay. He was eating and sleeping well. He had spent his days working on his pieces. He had managed to take up a few extra, not just for the money, but to keep himself occupied so he doesn't do something stupid and send another letter.
He had volunteered at the local orphanage which was fun and very satisfying as always. It did make him push the worry at the back of his mind which he was grateful for.
He also met Yoongi and Jimin a few times and even went clubbing which did not end well. Jimin got shit-faced drunk and spent the night declaring his love for Yoongi on top of his lungs which resulted in some guy asking him to shut up - which resulted in Jimin asking him to fuck off - which resulted in the guy giving the finger to Jimin that pissed off Yoongi - who punched the guy's face - which resulted in them being kicked out of the club and at some point on the way back, Jimin thought it was okay to throw up on Taehyung.
All in all not a good week for him! Jimin did take him to buy a new shirt though, so Taehyung forgave him.
He visited Jinny's cafe everyday while he worked and also managed to put down a few potential plot ideas for his book. They were not great, not at all bestseller worthy but at least he didn't feel the need to ball them up and put them in the trash. So that was something!
And so he spent his days waiting and trying his level best to keep himself busy. To any outsider, he would look absolutely fine.
But he felt anxious on the inside. He missed that excitement, the giddiness in his tummy that had kept him company after the first letter. His days were packed, but his nights were spent in wondering what was wrong.
Why won't he write back?
He couldn't help but wonder if J wanted him to write to J and not Jae-Hyun. But Taehyung felt uncomfortable to point that out! He did leave a few hints in his letter though.
He knows J knows nothing about him and so he had left him a little something about himself and tagged J so he may also give something to Taehyung in return. He thought it was a good way to get to know each other a little bit.
Honestly, he didn't know what to think. It's not like he needs the letter to survive or something but come on, how can you reply to one letter and then not, to the next?
It's not like he's dying to read more from J, he went on with his life by himself for so long. Of course, he's not going to drop everything to wait for a stupid letter!
He's just curious. Anyone would be! I mean if J wanted to just ghost him like this, then he shouldn't have replied at all. It's not like Taehyung was missing his tantalizing words or that nice handwriting or that sweet, sweet cologne that reminded him of beaches, and sunshine and cool wind blowing through his hair...
Nope, that's not the case at all.
He just thinks it's polite to reply. What is the point of going to the trouble of writing if not to get an answer?
After so many days of waiting though, Taehyung had decided that he didn't want J's letter anymore. What was he going to write that was so important anyway? Taehyung was a busy man, he didn't need such negativity in his life. And so with a huff, he went out for a walk. A little sun would definitely help, he thought.
No, he did not check his mailbox on his way out of the building. He was just making sure it's locked properly okay...because you know, burglars!
The walk was of little help as Taehyung roamed the streets with an absent mind. His face had a frown and he cussed at everything around him, kicking blameless pebbles with too much strength to take out his frustration.
Yep, Taehyung sometimes acted like a child.
Cursing his fate as he tripped on his way back that tore his jeans a bit, Taehyung entered his building all sweaty. Afternoon sun was a bad idea. He was fuming and he didn't think there was anything that was going to get him to feel better. This day was a shit show!
The second he saw his mail hanging from the box, he knew he spoke too soon. Grabbing it with eager hands he dashed upstairs towards his apartment not realizing the blinding smile that was plastered on his face.
Quickly punching in his code, he threw his shoes haphazardly and made a beeline to his bedroom almost bumping into every piece of furniture he possessed.
Jumping into bed like a child and dropping a pillow on the floor in the process, he tore it open carefully extracting the letter as if it were the most expensive shit in the world.
Technically it was to Taehyung but he's not focused on that!
Biting his lips with his heartbeat too fast for comfort, he began to read.
It was an understatement that Taehyung was happy and smiling. So much that his jaw had begun to hurt. But did he care, no! He was too busy doing his happy dance. He sniffed the letter and bathed in the sensory overload he felt as he took in the coconutty fragrance...
Okay, so maybe the letter meant a little more to him than he realized but that's alright.
All in good time...
Reading the letter a few more times, he kept it safely in his journal. He would write back soon but for now, he would work on something else for which a sudden inspiration had struck.
His very first book!
