10th June, 2022 - Seoul - Yoonmin residence

"WHAT?"

A broad smile had shown up on Taehyung's face and he chose to ignore the horror-filled faces of the two men.

"Oh my god, I cannot explain how much I needed that letter. It was as if it quite literally saved my life. I was honestly thinking of ending it all and then right on cue, and that too on my birthday! Every word was like a soft warm blanket that soothed my broken self, my aching heart... every hurt, every scar, every wound was as if magically healed, Chimmy..."

"B-but Tae, Jae-Hyun is d-dead.." Jimin whispered as if scared to speak out clearly. Of course, they think he's lost his marbles.

"I know, Chimmy.. He is.. This letter may have come from his address, bearing his name, but it was not him."

And he explained how Jeongguk had pretended to be Jae-Hyun, how they had kept on the pretense and then ended corresponding with each other throughout the months. How he is now in love with him...

"You mean to tell me," Jimin's voice raised and eyes widened with every word, "that some guy replied to your letters pretending to be Jae-Hyun, and you continued to play his game... and now you're in love with him?"

Taehyung looked at Jimin and then Yoongi who was just as shocked as his fiancé.

"I know it sounds bad but see for yourself.." Saying this he pointed at the letters and fished out the very first one Jeongguk sent.

With shaky hands, Jimin took the letter he was offered and Yoongi took another from the pile. They read all the letters that Jeongguk had sent right from the first one where he had spoken as Jae-Hyun. Time passed slowly as the couple was engrossed in reading Jeongguk's feelings but neither made any comment and so Taehyung held his silence too. He watched closely at their expressions, Yoongi's was stoic, not giving away anything but Jimin's were varied from frowns into smiles to sniffles and back to frowns. Taehyung waited with bated breath for them to finish.

As Jimin finished the last one he had gotten 3 weeks ago and passed it to Yoongi to read, he looked at Taehyung with warm eyes and a soft smile, and he smiled back.

"Oh honey, he sounds so..." Jimin looked around as if searching for the right word, "...perfect?"

"I know right?" Taehyung laughed as he agreed. 

Yes, Jeongguk was perfect. Jimin grabbed his hands tightly, gave them a squeeze and smiled widely. It was broken with Yoongi's sharp voice and both men turned to look at him.

"I don't trust him and this still doesn't explain why you were the way you were these past weeks. I'm assuming this person is the reason you were so happy all these months. Then what happened?"

Yoongi was extremely angry at this point. His brother, more like his baby honestly, was conversing with some stranger who was impersonating Jae-Hyun and then had managed to charm his way into Taehyung's life and heart so easily... What if he was some pervert? Some fraud?
