Jimin watched silently as the doctors once again checked up on his best friend. It was morning and now the 7th day that Taehyung was asleep. Yes, asleep. He will not accept anything other than that reality because every time he even thought of his Taetae being unconscious, he could feel his heart freeze up in fear and panic.
He had shielded his mind from the events of that night when he had found Taehyung in his kitchen hurt and unresponsive. Everything after that is a blur to him. If not for Yoongi's presence of mind and controlled nature, Jimin doesn't think he would've been able to do anything for his best friend. Probably passed out right next to him.
Jimin couldn't understand how things could go so wrong. What could be the reason Jeongguk would break Taehyung's heart like that? Yoongi had come back yesterday without coffee or clothes and narrated the whole incident at Jinny's cafe which Jimin thought was brilliant. At least this way they were prepared to handle Taehyung when he wakes.
The letter that Yoongi had got with him sat safely in Jimin's coat pocket and the urge to open and read it was overtaking all his senses but he knew it was wrong. Yoongi had read it, he knew and he had left it up to Jimin if he wished to read it before Taehyung too or not... But he would respect his best friend's privacy and read it later. Besides, whatever it was Jimin would support him with everything.
The fact that Jeongguk is also in the hospital was extremely concerning to Jimin. He just wanted his friend to not have any more problems. They both had agreed that it would not be right to go and see Jeongguk without speaking to Taehyung first. How long the man would take more to wake was unknown but the doctors seemed positive today.
They had removed the heavy bandages around his head and also the ones on his hands and legs. Only a few small patches were left here and there. Other than that, the wound on his head was healing well and his responses were better. The final neuro assessment would only be possible when he wakes up and the doctor was definite that it would be any day now.
Jimin hoped that was true because he doesn't think he can take it for long. The lack of sleep and immense amount of worry and fear were catching up to him and the only thing helping him stay sane was the letter that was waiting for Taehyung. It was a new hope, hope to help fix everything.
Yoongi had told him that the cafe owners were adamant about Jeongguk being in love with Taehyung which wasn't a big surprise for Jimin because Taehyung had given him a detailed account of everything that had happened between them and it was a shocker when he had heard about the break up because honestly, he had thought that the men would end up engaged soon, the way they were going!
In any case, everything would be managed once they know the whole story. Jeongguk loved Taehyung so that was all that mattered.
"Alright Mr. Park. It's all done. He's doing good so you should relax. He should wake up soon."
Thanking the doctor, Jimin sat back on his place next to the bed and took the limp hand in his palm as he rubbed circles with his thumb on it. He stared at the beautiful sleeping face of his soulmate and his eyes teared up again.
What would he do without this man? He had cared for him for so long that now he cannot imagine his life without his Taetae... No matter what Yoongi said, he knew Taehyung had spiraled really low that night. It was a feeling he had, not because of all the knives he saw, but because of how awful Taehyung had sounded on the phone... How desperate his plea was to make it stop hurting!
He will have a serious conversation with his friend this time. He won't delay anymore. And this time he had leverage to make sure Taehyung followed through.
