In the evening, Taylor sat on one of the two bar stools in her kitchen watching Travis preparing dinner. He insisted on cooking for her but with her instructions. The whole day, he had been the sweetest guy doing everything so that Taylor could rest as much as possible. She felt bad for it in the beginning but it really seemed like he had fun doing it, so she let him take care. Now, she just sat there explaining what he needed to do next laughing about the slightly stressed look on his face. It was only two pots right now and he still seemed a little helpless."Well done!", Taylor joked when the food was ready and they sat down. "I guess, I can still learn a lot from you", he winked at her. "We can cook together next time", she suggested. "Whenever next time is", he sighed. "Sorry, I just... I guess, I missed you", he added blushing insecurely. Taylor could feel her cheeks getting hot too. "I'd like to meet you again sooner this time too", she smiled. "Would you want to come to Kansas sometime?", he asked carefully. "Sometime, of course. It probably won't be easy but... yeah", she mumbled taking another bite of her food. "As long as it's possible...", he just smiled and continued to eat too.
"Let's try to figure out what we would need to do, okay? Even if we don't wanna risk it soon, we're prepared then", Travis suggested. Taylor thought about it for a moment. But he was right. It couldn't be wrong to at least plan a theoretical visit. "Yeah, let's see what we can plan already. Security should be possible and maybe where I could stay", she agreed. "I mean... If you want to, you can stay at my place. If your security is okay with that too of course", he said. Taylor couldn't help but smile. She was hoping to stay with him but her security would at least have a say in that. She had no idea how he lived or even where exactly. "I'll contact Tree about it and if you give me your address, I can talk to security too", Taylor said. "Sure! I'll wait but if we really do it, then I'll talk to my publicist too", he mentioned.
"Who did you talk to yet?", Taylor asked. "Just Jason. I told you, I would only tell my brother for now", Travis answered a bit confused. The look on her face told him that she was a little embarrassed that she didn't fully believe him when he had said that last time. But he just smiled and boobed her knee with his under the table to make her look at him again. Seeing his soft smile, she smiled too. "What did he say?", she wanted to know. "I'm not sure if he actually believes me", Travis laughed. "Let's call him", she grinned suddenly. "Now?", Travis asked surprised. "Why not? I'm done", she said pushing her plate out of the way. Travis laughed but pulled out his phone.
"What's up?", Jason picked up his phone a bit confused by the video call itself. "Hi Jase", Travis began. "Hi. Where are you? That's not your kitchen is it?", his brother asked still confused. Travis laughed unsure about how to put it. But Taylor already slid in from the side waving to the camera with a cheeky grin: "Hi. That's my kitchen actually", she explained. Jason's face lost it all for a second which made Travis laugh. "Are you kidding me?", Jason asked. "Sorry. Hi? I guess?", he corrected himself quickly. "Hi", Taylor repeated laughing. "I heard you didn't believe your brother", she said. "Well", Jason laughed. "He's pulled off a lot but mostly bullshit, so", he joked. "Whoa!", Travis stopped him indignantly making the others laugh. "So, is it official now?", Jason wanted to know. "You're literally the only person I told it to", Travis explained. "Oh, what an honor", his brother laughed. "Okay, so I won't dare to talk about you guys. Got it", he added seriously. Taylor smiled silently. He seemed genuine and she could almost read him the same way she could read Travis. They were quite obviously siblings.
After a few minutes of talking to Jason, they said their goodbyes. Taylor let herself fall against Travis's shoulder happily. It was a spontaneous idea but she felt good to have done it. Jason was really welcoming and didn't treat her weird at all. "Thanks", Travis whispered kissing her head. "What for?", she asked looking up confused. "You convinced my brother that I didn't lie to him", Travis grinned. "I mean we're talking to family now. I guess that's a step", he added more seriously but a little insecure. Was that a big deal just to him? "Yeah, I... I realized that when we said bye", Taylor admitted. She really didn't think much about it beforehand which was quite unusual for her. Travis laughed a bit. "But you're good with it?", he wanted to make sure. "Yes! He's funny", she grinned referencing Jasons jokes at Travis' cost. "No, really. Maybe we should call my brother soon", she smiled honestly. "I'd love to but maybe after a good night's sleep", Travis answered.
So they quickly cleaned up the kitchen. In fact, Travis cleaned up most of it and assured Taylor that she could go to bed already. She should still rest. "I'll miss this", Taylor sighed cuddling up to Travis only a few minutes later. He pulled her even closer making her feel small for the first time in forever. She didn't even know how much she liked this feeling. "I'll miss you", he whispered making her shiver. Everything just felt so warm and tingly all of a sudden. There was no way for her to sleep right now. "I'll miss you too", she finally answered making Travis feel the same immediately. They started whispering jokes and sweet nothings into the darkness giggling about themselves every now and then until they were tired enough to fall asleep.
