Summary: Alastor just wants to snuggle his kitten

Alastor wasn't sure when Husker started pulling away. He did that once on the night Al took his soul- which Alastor could admit was fair. Alastor had laughed that time; his little growl was just so cute. He pulled away sometimes after that, but Alastor could usually convince him to come back with a combination of honeyed words and his excellent head scritches. But now Husker wouldn't let him touch him at all, and it had been a long time since Alastor had been able to convince him to break that stance.

It was a clever play. Husker knew that Alastor wasn't close to many people. Withholding his affection was clearly a tactic to try to exert control over Alastor, to try to get him to be nicer, or even a tactic to get his soul back. Alastor knew that Husker was still the same old overlord inside, even if he was temporarily embarrassed and going by the silly name 'Husk' now. Another clever play. Alastor knew Husker was only pretending to be broken. If he could convince Alastor that he had been thoroughly defeated and given up on playing the overlord game entirely, that put him in an excellent position to strike.

Unfortunately for Husker, Alastor wasn't going to fall for it. No matter how much he pulled away, or how sad he pretended to be, Alastor wasn't going to let his guard down or go soft. He would keep punishing Husker for his sins, ripping his life away over and over again, just as the lives of the demons whose souls he gambled were ripped away every time their souls changed owners. It was funny and ironic, not to mention the added bonus of preventing Husker from forming alliances that could be wielded against Alastor. Besides, he was certain Husker could see the humor in it. He was only pretending to be mad.

Still, he missed being able to pet him. He could never let Husker see him be desperate for it or lonely- and of course Alastor was neither of these things anyways. Alastor didn't need anybody. But Husker's fur was soft beneath his claws, his body was warm, and his purrs rumbled Alastor to the bone in a way that he enjoyed. And besides, convincing Husker to snuggle again would be a fun challenge. That was all this was. Still, he must be careful not to appear desperate or lonely in the process.

So when Alastor saw Husker laying on the bar all dramatic like he knew it was the perfect opportunity to strike. He was determined to finesse Husker into his bed that night, and he was confident he could do it with ease. After all, Alastor always got whatever he wanted, in the end. And if he had to fight for it well, that just made it more fun.

Alastor chuckled as he walked over. Husker was laying on his back with a bottle tipped up into his mouth, chugging the whole thing. He looked rather silly. "Oh my, Husker~" Alastor purred. "That doesn't look like the most comfortable spot to lay down."

Husker flipped Alastor off without putting the bottle down. Alastor ignored him and reached out to pet Husker's ear, making him startle and pull back. Unfortunately for him, that made Husker fall right off the bar top and onto the floor. So dramatic.

Alastor laughed and swooped down on Husker, grabbing his paws and pulling up to his feet. "See Husker? That's why you shouldn't lay somewhere like that."

Husker didn't say anything, looking at Alastor with wide, bewildered eyes, his ears flushed pink with his drunken blush. He looked adorable, and Alastor laughed, pulling him close and wrapping his arms around him. Husker felt limp in his arms. "Aw, you're so cute~ Aren't you going to try to push me away again?"

"God, fuck you," Husker muttered, his face pressed into Alastor's chest. Alastor felt him shudder, and he pulled back to look down at Husker's face, discovering that he was crying.

Alastor wiped away a tear with his thumb. "Aw, why so glum, Husker, kitten?" Husker liked to pull this tactic for sympathy sometimes. Alastor decided to pretend that it worked on him this time, though the idea of punishing Husker for it crossed his mind. "I know what will cheer you up. Let's dance~ For old times sake." Alastor pulled Husker to the middle of the room, and Husker stumbled after him.
