It was a simple mistake. Nothing more, nothing less. After Charlie gave him an awkward explanation of why his words were not as well received as he hoped, he brushed it off as being unfamiliar with the language demons use nowadays. It took too much time though. The battle was already at its peak, thousands lying dead on the ground. He couldn't save them, not allowed to participate in the fight --not yet anyway. Adam may have been a fool, breaking the contract between heaven and hell, but Lucifer knew if he were the first to strike, that would only escalate things further. So he had to watch the carnage and bloodshed, waiting for the moment a finger was laid upon his daughter. Only then would the exorcists know their place, underneath him. Even that damned first man.

It was always going to end with him as the victor, a high Seraphim of his status battling a mere angel. Adam may have had the blessing of Heaven, but he was human once. His egotistical attitude paired with underestimating the strength of Lucifer made for a quick, hilarious battle.

Lucifer even took the opportunity to tease the man, reminding him of the fact that not only did his first wife leave for... better company , but the second was just as willing to accept his gift, the fruit of knowledge. Even if it did bring evil into the world, he still saw it as a win in his book.

And who's to say they didn't have a little fun together in the meantime? Though that lustful session was a suggestion of his wife's, as she had been dying to touch another woman. Not that he's complaining.

First Lilith, then Eve. A part of him wants to comment the whole set! , but before he speaks such a thought, he remembers what he told Adam before their duel. Something about those words make a small blush creep across his face.
