The city had been plagued by a series of exterminations, and the killing rates had risen alarmingly high. Exorcists had been pushing the boundaries that they had initially agreed upon, causing grave concerns amongst the citizens and even Lucifer himself.
He needed to talk to an 'old friend' as it seems. As he was the one responsible for the slight changes of the extermination. Lucifer had a lot of questions, clearly not impressed.
However, Lucifer didn't expect that the 'old friend' would contact him first. Inviting him to another meeting.
This time, he was going to attend it himself.
—
Lucifer stepped outside of the palace ready to head to the desired place.
Looking around the pentagram City, he strolled down the streets. It reeked of death.
Everywhere he turned, he'd see the grim aftermath of the increased violence. It was a troubling sight, bodies upon bodies of sinners have been piled rotten in the streets for cannibals to enjoy.
He had allowed it, sure, but if Adam continued to push his luck, he would have no choice but to intervene.
Signing his signature on the golden paper, he heard the elevator open with a click. As he stepped inside, anticipation washed his features. The elevator ascended smoothly, and the doors opened, he stepped out— into the meeting room.
Lucifer could barely make out the figure sitting on the opposite table in the dimly lit room. The air was heavy with anticipation, and he could feel the tense atmosphere in the room. Despite all that, he stood there with calm and confidence, resting his cane on the floor as he waited for the meeting to begin.
"..."
Then, as he had expected, all at once, the lights turned on, making everything brighter than usual. Adam was sitting lazily on the chair, eating ribs. "Oh hey! You came," he greeted the king with a smirk.
Lucifer raised an eyebrow, unamused by Adam's casual demeanour. "Of course, I came. Especially when I learned that you tried to sneak your way around the terms of our agreement again."
Adam chuckled, unfazed by Lucifer's comment. "Relax, Luci. We're just here to talk, right? Let's negotiate."
Lucifer narrowed his eyes, not amused by Adam's attempt at humour. "What is there to negotiate when you can't even follow the bare minimum of our agreement!" anger bubbling in his chest.
"Oh please, it's better to handle the remaining sinners now than come back to kill them next year," Adam had a lack of concern in his voice. "And take a seat, will ya? It's rude."
Lucifer was still standing; this meeting would be quick. He had no interest in staying, especially not near Adam.
Sighing.
"The contract stated the extermination was made yearly because I still want to have some of my people left in hell." The king's brows furrowed as he spoke firmly, warning laced in his words.
Adam leaned forward, placing a finger on the table as he spoke. His voice was measured, but there was an unmistakable edge to it. "Psh, yeah okay, but we're still doing the next extermination in six months!"
The exorcist's eyes narrowed, a flicker of anger passing through them. "Your stupid bitches have managed to kill one of my top soldiers. I think it's only fair if we use the half-time as a lesson."
Lucifer scoffed at that. "I think it's hardly the sinner's fault. Your girls know how bloodthirsty my people are, and yet you all come here into my turf, all reckless and uncaring. No regard for your safety."
