All Alastor was trying to do was fetch Lucifer for Charlie. It was simple, nothing should have come from it.
However, the Overlord sees something that no one else was meant to and Lucifer decides to have a little fun with him.
Or alternatively:
Two Lucifer's, one hole
"Hey, Alastor? Have you see my dad around here? We were supposed to go out together for a little bit of shopping. He said he wanted to try and make something special for dinner tonight."
The hotelier looked up from the newspaper he was reading. He didn't have the heart to tell Charlie that he didn't care when her deadbeat father was. Instead, he simply brightened his smile and put on his best showy voice, "Why no, my dear! I have not seen Lucifer recently. Not since he retired to his room last night. Perhaps you should go check there first and see if he's even up yet?"
The princess worried her lip between her bottom teeth, "Yeah I guess I should, I just hope he's doing okay, he's been a little out of it lately. I think that's why he wanted to get out and do something today..."
Alastor hummed and turned back to his paper. He'd leave it to Charolette to track down Lucifer. After all there was a fascinating exposé on the history of Cannibal Town and he was quite invested in it.
He heard Charlie sigh softly to herself and leave the room. However, before she got out the door, Vaggie rushed in looking panicked.
"There you are, Charlie! We have a bit of a situation. One of the new guests is having a breakdown and we need someone to come talk to them. They won't even let Angel or Husk near them and when I try to get close they just ask me to get you. Would you mind, please?"
Immediately, the princess perked up and eagerly nodded her head, "Yeah! Of course, give me just one second. Hey, Alastor?"
Suppressing a sigh, the demon lowered his paper once more and fixed Charlie with a look, "Yes?"
She smiled nervously and rubbed the back of her head, "Do you mind to go upstairs and let dad know to meet me in about an hour while I assist our guest?"
The Overlord clenched his teeth as he allowed his smile to grow painfully wide. He would rather do almost anything else but go bother the damned deadbeat, but Alastor was a slave to appearances. Plus, it would allow him to at least mildly annoy the king. Working the shorter demon up has become one of his favorite past times lately.
Gently, he folded the paper away and sat it down on the end table. With a flourish, he stood up and summoned his cane, twirling it for show, "Not at all! You go take care of the wayward soul and I'll go fetch Lucifer for you, my dear!"
Charlie breathed out a sigh of relief and smiled brightly at him, "Thanks! You're the best!"
The demon hummed softly as Charlie bolted out of the room. He waited until she was just out of sight before rolling his eyes and sighed heavily. Deciding that it was easier to just get it over with, he slipped into the shadows and quickly made his way to Lucifer's wing.
Alastor exited the shadows just a few feet from the kings door. As he approached, the faint sounds of movement could be heard from inside. Perhaps the king was already getting prepared for his outing with Charlie.
The sinner waited patiently for a few moments. Irritation began to set in as plenty of noise was still coming from underneath the door, but there was no sign of Lucifer. With a huff, Alastor quickly rapped on the wood, "Sire?"
