"Do you have everything ready?"

"Yes."

"Do you want me to make any particular entry?"

"No."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes"

"Very sure?"

Alastor rolled his eyes without bothering to observe how Clauneck was doing in the back seat of that ancient car that one of the members of the cannibal city had lent them for that occasion. After all, the boy was still sound asleep in his basket now decorated with some red ribbons and mouse skulls. He didn't even seem to have noticed that he was now on his way to a place completely unknown to him.

"I already told you that you have nothing to worry about, my dear" again that gentlemanly and confident tone was present. As well as the typical smile and predatory look "You just have to follow the steps that were planned with great detail and intelligence so that everything turns out perfect. And considering your ability to adapt to everything, I know with certainty that there will be no margin for error."

Rosie smiled hugely. There was the Alastor she knew. Or at least the one who could talk and act so politely and yet destroy, devour and wreak havoc anywhere and with any being that aroused his bestial hunger or lust for murder. And at the thought of that, a sudden doubt ran through his mind: would Clauneck be like that when he grew up? Or would he just be one more memory he would have to erase from his head after his colleague and friend's plans were carried out?

She shrugged her shoulders. That was no longer her business, but she had to admit that the days with that little one had been a lot of fun. Above all because she had felt a family connection... perhaps one of those affectionate ties between aunts and nephews or grandmothers and grandchildren. She didn't know, and even if she related it to that, she couldn't say for sure, since she had never experienced anything like that when she was alive.

And not even after her dead.

"I'm quite glad you continue to have that perception of me because I'm never going to change, sweetness" he replied in the same tone of voice as he turned the steering wheel in a particular direction "Actually I was asking you those questions because I wanted to know if you could walk properly once we get off this junk. Remember, you went through one of the biggest calamities rumored to be one of the many punishments heaven provided after creation and all that joke."

Alastor let out a sarcastic laugh "Fuck heaven and everyone in it" Rosie nodded in agreement, approaching the new hotel facilities that had greatly improved after the sudden extermination and intense attack by the exorcist angels "Do you remember everything we talked about? Or do you need us to refresh your memory a bit before we take the plunge, my dear?"

"You're talking to one of your best colleagues in the manipulation business" She mentioned as she stopped in front of the Hotel. "Besides, I love suicide jumps."

They both gave each other complicit smiles again before getting out of the car at the same time, Alastor being the one who rode at the head with his typical pose of supreme lord with his spine straight, hands clasped behind his back, chest puffed out, elegant walk and head up leaving his characteristic exaggerated facial features in full view. However, he had to be honest with himself. He was confident, yes. He knew his acting skills were among the best in his class but that didn't take away the incredible pain he felt in the still unhealed wound in his chest.

Behind him, Rosie walked in the same manner while carrying Clauneck in her arms who remained oblivious to everything around him.

"The letter I sent a few days ago advising of your arrival was answered enthusiastically by the princess herself so I guess.... Alastor!"
