CHAPTER 5

"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU THINKING HERA?!" malakas na sigaw sa akin ni Drix. He was the one who picked me up near the bridge. I just stayed silent, but my eyes twitched as he shouted at me.

"Bakit ka naninigaw?!" balik na sigaw ko sa kaniya. Napahawak na lang sa sentido n'ya sabay talikod sa akin. "Pumasok ka na," he sighed as I could still sense the irritation from his voice as he opened the door of his car.

Pumasok na lang ako at tahimik lang na umupo sa passenger seat n'ya. Dito na ako nagpasundo sa may tulay kasi alam ko na iba ang magiging reaksyon ni Drix kapag nalaman n'yang nakatulog ako sa ibang bahay lalo na at bahay ng lalaki 'yon.

Naramdaman ko ang presensya ni Drix sa tabi ko habang nakatingin sa bintana. He reached for the seatbelt as he wrapped that around me, making me safe.

He was so close to me right now, I could feel his breath. He looked at me deeply with his chocolate colored eyes, and I could see the softness of his stares.

Isang maling galaw na lang ay magtatama na ang mga labi nami. I didn't dare to move and just stared back at him when he let out a small sigh as he pulled away.

"Please... please don't make me worried again like that," he said calmly as he buried his face on my neck. Matagal ko nang alam, pero hindi ko na pinansin na alam ko ang dahilan ng mga kilos na ginagawa n'ya sa akin.

Drix Yudesco Hacovo is known to be a ruthless, perfectionist, and cold headed person when it comes to his business and illegal activities. He's just 18 but he was feared by everyone on how he held the world underground pero pagdating sa akin ay iba s'ya.

I removed his head that he buried on my shoulder. "Umuwi na tayo," tanging sabi ko na lang. Humiwalay naman na s'ya sa akin saka nagmaneho.

Nakatingin lang ako sa labas ng bintana nang maalala ko ang lalaking 'yon. I didn't have a chance to ask his name because I didn't even plan to in the first place and it was not on my plan to cross paths with him again. I didn't like how I acted towards him. I kill people. I don't save.

Kinakabahan ako, nanginginig ang katawan ko nang makarating kami sa mansyon. I saw the dark flaming glares from my mom's eyes. She was directly looking at me with her gun. I tried to look in Drix's direction for help but he was just sitting on the sofa, eating some chips.

'Di n'ya ako tutulungan dito?!

"Did you realize kung ano'ng ginawa mo?" kalmado pero madiin na tanong sa akin ni Mama. I just shakingly nodded at her, making her head tilt. "Did you also realize how much we've been worried about you?" dagdag na tanong n'ya pa na tinanguan ko.

"Then bakit hindi ka umuwi?!" pasigaw na tanong ni Mama sa akin dahilan para magulat ako.

I didn't want to look at her. I knew if our eyes met, I'd feel hell behind her stares.

"Ma, I tried to reach out but..." Naputol ang sasabihin ko nang biglang pinaputok ni Mama ang baril n'ya. That vase she shot scattered around the place.

Halos tumalsik ang kaluluwa ko sa ginawa ni Mama. My eyes widened when I saw the vase that she aimed her gun to. Halos manghina ang tuhod ko nang makita kung ano ang binaril na vase ni Mama and it was the 1740 Qianlong dynasty.

"Ma—"

Magsasalita pa lang sana ako nang magsalita ulit si Mama.

"You've been gone for the whole night, and ikaw rin ang may gawa sa crime malapit sa school mo kagabi, right?" she asked as my heart beat fast.

"I can explain. Those guys were trying to hurt me!" pagtatanggol ko sa sarili ko.

It was true! They were the ones who pointed their motives towards me. I was just defending myself!

"But why are you in that alley?!" my mom calmly asked in an irritated voice as she used her gun to scratch her head. "Drix told you to wait for him, then why are you there?! Hindi mo ba alam kung ano'ng puwedeng mangyari sa 'yo, Hera? Hindi maganda ang sitwasyon natin ngayon. Mag-ingat ka naman!" she scolded me, as she was trying her best to remain her composure.

I understand, I was wrong. I should have waited for Drix to pick me up, and I didn't even know why I walked away.

It felt like something was pushing me to go to that bridge. It's just those guys bumped into me.

"Sorry, it won't happen again," tanging sambit ko na lang.

I saw her walking towards me as she hugged me. "I'm just worried about you... Hindi ko na kaya kapag pati ikaw nawala sa akin," she whispered, hugging me as I felt I was struck by a lighting knowing it's my brother she's referring to.

I was in my room now, as I immediately lay into my bed and relaxed. Napakadaming nangyari kahapon, at unang araw ko pa lang 'yon sa eskwelahan na 'yon.

"I want my kuya back..." I whispered to myself.

When I heard that my door open, I didn't bother to look in that direction because I already knew who it was.

"Saan ka ba talaga nanggaling? It's not like may iba kang kakilala rito," Drix asked me as he leaned himself into my door.

"I saved someone," I answered. Nakita ko na napaayos s'ya ng tayo at naglakad palapit sa akin.

"You saved someone? As far as I remember, you killed someone last night," seryosong sabi nito. Hindi ko man tuluyang nakikita ang mukha nito pero alam kong nakangisi ito.

See? Kahit s'ya, hindi naniniwala na may niligtas ako.

"Someone was trying to kill himself on that bridge," I mumbled, still laying on my bed as I looked at the ceiling. "Gusto ko lang namang makita ang tulay, but then those two guys, hinarangan ako. They were the ones who tried to hurt me first, and I just defended myself," I hissed.

"But then after killing them, I suddenly saw myself walking towards the bridge, and doon ko nakita 'yong lalaki," I added.

I stayed silent for a bit, trying to process everything. May ibang parte na malabo sa akin dahil na rin siguro kasi nawalan ako ng malay kagabi.

"Lalaki?"

"He was trying to jump, but when he jumped, I followed him," I said blankly.

"What?! Bakit mo sinundan?" nag-aalalang tanong naman ni Drix. I could sense that he's starting to get worried as I heard his voice raise.

Hindi ko na sinagot ang tanong n'ya at pinikit na ang mata. I was exhausted. My body felt so tired, and I just wanted to rest and sleep for a while.

As I slowly dozed off, I could feel Drix beside me. Bago pa man ako tuluyang makatulog, naramdaman ko pa ang paghalik n'ya sa noo ko.

I slowly opened my eyes as I saw him smiling at me. It felt like he was always reassuring me that everything was fine.

"Rest. You can sleep now. Hindi muna tayo papasok," he smiled as he gave me another kiss on my cheeks before leaving my room.

My eyes shut as he left my room. I know what you're doing.
