"Wait a sec. How big?" Steve had asked this question about a million times, prompting Dustin's aggravated response through the middle of the two front seats.

"First it was like this." He gestures with his fingers - Steve watching in the rear view window. Dustin continues by moving his hands out in a wider position. "Now he's like this."

"I swear to God, man, it's just some little lizard, okay?"

"It's not a lizard, Steve." Judy insisted.

"How do you know?"

"How do we know it's not a lizard? How do we know? Well, because its face opened up and it ate the cat. That's how, you asshole." Judy said loudly. Steve watched her with wide eyes, backing away a little. "You think we would just make this up? If I wanted to hang out with the two of you that bad, I would've just asked." Judy slumped into the seat and crossed her arms.

"Hey." Dustin whined from the backseat.

Back at the Henderson house, the three of them crept around to the cellar. They each held onto a flashlight and Steve had his bat. They stood over the cellar, idle.

"I don't hear shit." Steve said, leaning over the cellar then shining his flashlight in Dustin's face.

"He's in there, alright? Get it out of my face." Dustin swatted away the flashlight and knelt down to unlock the chain keeping the cellar closed. Steve looked into it and down the stairs, looking at Dustin and Judy one more time before stepping inside slowly. Judy moved to follow him, and only a few steps in she looked back to see Dustin still on the outside of the cellar.

"I'll stay up here in case he tries to escape." He said, sheepishly. Judy couldn't blame him so she only pursed her lips and turned back around to see Steve looking at Dustin and then at her. She knew she looked scared and he did too.

"Hey," he said in a soft tone, "hold on to my jacket." Steve said and Judy put her fingers around the back of his jacket, clutching the fabric like her life depended on it.

Underneath the flashlights, the cellar looked normal, even as Steve turned on the one light. Judy stayed clutched to his jacket as she stood close behind him, watching over his shoulder as he lifted up a translucent patch of something that was covered in dripping goop with his bat. Neither of the teens could say anything at the strange sight.

Steve pointed his flashlight away from his bat and into a corner of the room. Only the corner was carved out. It looked the same as the tree that Judy had gone through that night last year. She moved around Steve first to look further in. Pointed her flashlight into the hole in the corner, she could see no end.

"Get down here." Steve said from behind Judy, causing her to look away from the tunnel and see Steve pointing his flashlight up the stairs. Dustin came down slowly and looked for Judy, who stood up to let him see the tunnel.
