"Dash. Dot. Dash. Dot. C!" Judy yelled, excited to actually get something that might help them. Beep after beep from the walkie-talkie, Judy could make out the first message. "L. O. S. E. G. A. T. E." She read, looking at the piece of paper in front of her. Everyone in the kitchen stood behind her to read the first message.
"Close gate." They said in unison. Suddenly, the phone on the wall rang loudly through the quiet home. Dustin was quick to run to the other side of the room and hang up the phone, Nancy stood behind him panting. The phone only rang again, and Nancy ripped it out of the wall, throwing it with a loud thud against the floor.
"You think he heard that?" Max asked.
"It's just a phone." Steve said, "It could be anywhere. Right?"
It was only moments before screeches sounded outside of the house, causing everyone to stare at the front door. Hopper came barreling back into the kitchen with Will over his shoulder. "Get away from the windows!" He yelled at the kids looking outside. Everyone else stood behind him as he peeked through the glass himself.
With two guns in his hands, he looked at Judy. "You remember how to use this, kid?" He asked, holding up a target rifle towards her.
"Yeah?" She said, perplexed after not having much time to think about it. But she stood armed and ready next to her father and Steve, who had his bat ready to swing. Monsters growled in the distance and Judy watched through the window looking through the top of the gun in her hands. Everyone gasped as the windows on the side of the house showed the bushes moving rapidly.
"What are they doing?" Judy questioned out loud, following the rustling bushes with her rifle. The monsters continued to snarl as they ran around all sides of the house.
Back at the front of the house, monsters crashed and chittered, raising the bumps across Judys skin. With one more crash, a monster screeched as a ripping sound come from outside. Suddenly all the noises stopped, which was more frightening than anything. Judy and Hopper watched the front window, expectantly.
In an instant, the window broke open and shattered glass scattered across the living room, cueing everyone to gasp. Pointing her gun down, Judy looked into the corner of the room, watching over a demogorgon lying on the floor. She stepped slowly next to her father, waiting for any movement.
"Holy shit. Is it dead?" Dustin asked for everyone and Hopper stuck his boot out to shove the monster. Nothing moved or came alive.
The faintest creak from the front door made everyone turn in silence, waiting. The bottom lock turned, followed by the chain lock above it. Everyone watched the phantom nobs, and the swinging door with no hand attached to it. It opened on its own.
Judy immediately dropped her gun to her side as she watched a white pair of sneakers and jeans walk into the room. El stood in front of them, not looking like she normally did, with black clothes and slicked back hair. Her nose was running blood and she looked scared. But she wouldn't for long. Not when she was back protecting her people.
