He held my upper arm and dragged me up to my feet, I started wriggling in his grip but he tightened it further with a laugh.
"Leave me." I tried to jerk his hand away, but he pulled me closer and I bumped into his chest. His hand reached my waist and he held me in a firm grip, his other hand was holding both of my hands.
I stepped upon his feet and he groaned in pain, his grip loosened a little on my hands and I immediately moved back and started running from there. My ankle is throbbing in pain.
I looked back and he was still chasing me. My heartbeats were accelerating so were my legs. When I looked forward I straight bumped into another man's chest. His hands protectively held my elbows but I started wriggling.
"Amyrah."
A familiar voice rang in my ears and I looked up at the person. His dark eyes were fixed in mine, his jaws were clenched and there was a frown on his face. My entire body was trembling in fear and my breaths were getting shallow.
I looked back and got flinched when I saw that man standing just a foot away from me. Suddenly I was standing behind the guy who saved me. His body was blocking my view from that disgusting man.
"Amyrah, what did he do?" His tone was low, calming my senses a little.
"He..he was coming near..me." My own voice was as if foreign to me, it came out shaky and low. I doubt that he might have heard it or not. His body which was blocking me suddenly moved in a blink.
"Haramzade, teri himmat kaise huwi ankh utha kar dekhne ki bhi."
(How dare you even look up at her)
He started punching him and I stepped back in fear.
"Tuhanu paravaha kium hai, uha tuhade lai vi kauṇa hai."
(Why do you care, who is she even to you?)
The guy hit him back on the face and he stumbled back, making my senses blank and the only emotion intact in me is fear.
"Hone wali biwi hai meri."
(She is my future wife)
He yelled in anger and started hitting back, my breath stopped and my heart came up to my throat. A cold shiver ran through my spine in this hot weather. The words started echoing around me.
He was beating mercilessly and I felt like puking looking at the blood, my knees felt weak and my eyes started getting blurred, the entire world was spinning around me. I sat on my toes as it was even hard to stand.
How I was slapped by my parents came crashing down in my brain.
You are a disgrace to us.
Tu paida hi kyu hui, mar jaana chahiye tha.
Apne behen bhaiyon se seekh kuch.
"Amyrah."
"Amyrah, hey look here."
"Amyrah."
I slowly opened my eyes and flinched moving backwards. He was sitting on his toes in front of me. He looked stressed. His hair is disheveled, a few of the strands falling on his forehead. His eyes were dangerous but something in them was calming me.
"It's alright." He whispered softly and forwarded his hand which made me flinch again.
"Relax, I'll not harm you." His tone was gentle and he raised his hands in the air.
"Calm down, you are safe now."
I closed my eyes shut and all I can feel is my heartbeats. I've no idea what's hurting me the most, the physical pain in my entire body or the pain of abandonment or the worst pain of all, the pain in my heart by the words said to me. I tried to focus on my breathing as it's getting suffocated.
