PARIZAY.
As the class was done I started throwing away these books in my bag as I'm in no mood to look at it for even a further second. I glanced at Amyrah who was on the phone for sure with her dear husband.
She stopped talking and looked at me, I raised my brows questioningly but she started talking again.
"Pari, Waqar Bhai baat karna chahte hai." (Pari, brother Waqar wants to talk to you). She said in a whisper and my breathing quickens. Several possibilities crashed at a time. Why does he want to talk to me?
"Why?" She shrugged in response and passed the phone to me. Taking a breath I took the phone. It isn't a problem for me to talk with boys but this specific one makes my heart race.
"Hello."
"Parizay dhayan se suniye meri baat. Phone speaker pe toh nahi hai na?" (Parizay, listen to me carefully. Phone isn't on the speaker right?). His voice sounded so worried.
"Nahi." (No).
There was silence for a few seconds. "Aaban ka accident ho gaya hai, vo abhi bahot critical hai mai aap ko location send karta hun bhabhi ko lekar aayein aur please unhe aaram se yeh sab batayein ga." (Aaban got into an accident. He is in critical condition, I'll send you the location bring sister in law there and please tell her everything calmly).
I froze like, literally froze in my place. My eyes were on Amyrah. Oh Allah no. How am I even gonna say everything to her?
"Parizay aap sun rahi hein?" (Parizay are you listening?). His voice brought me back.
"J-e.. Jee haan." (Yes). I stammered and Amyrah was looking at me with concern filled eyes.
"Mein bhabhi ke number pe address send karta hun." (I'll send the address on, sister in law's phone).
"Jee." I wasn't able to say anything else. If it's shocking to me to this extent I can only imagine Amyrah's state when she gets to know, what will happen to her. The call ended and the phone vibrated.
"Pari kya hua hein?" (Pari, what's wrong?). She asked keeping her hand on my forearm. I gulped and looked at her. How do I even tell her everything?
"Humnein kahi jaana hai utho." (We have to go somewhere, get up). I was still in haze about how to tell her about her nightmare.
"Kahan? Aur mujhe apna phone chahiye. Mein ne Aaban se baat nahi ki." (Where? And I need my phone, I haven't talked to Aaban). She forwarded her hand in my direction.
"Uh.. Amyrah vo." Ya Allah mein kaisey bolu isse. "I need your phone to book the cab." I tried to act casual.
"But where are we going and what did Waqar Bhai say to you?"
"I'll tell you everything, Amyrah but please trust me for now." She nodded but I could see the curiosity in her. I booked the cab after typing the address he sent it.
Alhamdulillah in just 6 minutes the cab was here and I dragged Amyrah with me settling in the car. I turned towards her. "Amyrah." I whispered her name. She was looking at me and now with worry etching her face.
"Listen to me calmly okay?"
"You are scaring me Parizay please tell me what it is?"
"Vo Aaban Bhai ka accident hua hai aur unhe hospital le gaye hai. Hum bhi wahi ja rahe hai. Fikar ki koi baat nahi hai vo theek hai." (Brother Aaban got into an accident and he was taken to the hospital. We are going there and don't worry he is fine).
