AABAN.
With a feathery touch I tucked the strands of her hair behind her ear. She was fast asleep, sitting on the chair with her head resting on the bed. With that Ammi entered the room and smiled looking at me.
She came towards me and kissed my forehead. Her eyes got on Amyrah and her smile turned into a pity one looking at her. "Kya tum jante ho Aaban, yeh pichley teen dinon se aisi hi hai. Isi halat mein so rahi thi aur tumhare liye bahot pareshaan rahi. Vo yaha se ek inch bhi nahi hati. Har roz tumhare liye dua'ein mangti thi, Allah se tumhari sehath ki dua karti rahi. Yeh waqayi tum se bahut pyar karti hai Aaban. Aap ne liye is ki muhabbat par kabhi shaq na karna."
(You know, she was like this for the last three days. She was sleeping in the same position and was very worried about you. She didn't even move an inch from here. She used to pray for you every day. She used to pray to Allah for your health. She really loves you very much. Never doubt her love for you).
This was overwhelming me with the emotions. I never knew the depth of her love and Ammi saying it herself is really a huge thing. I couldn't help but look at her. She looked so tired and how is she even sleeping in this position?
Ammi brushed my hair with a smile and walked away to sit on the couch. With a light touch I felt her soft skin under my finger tips. How did I even get so lucky? To be honest what does a man want from their woman. The life long togetherness with loyalty and the genuine love.
Alhamdulillah I feel really blessed having her in my life. I took a strand of her hair and was rolling it around my index finger. It is so rare that she isn't waking up from the slightest of the movement. She is such a light sleeper that even the sound of a foot step wakes her up.
I traced her jaw which made her shift in her place. I glanced at Ammi and she too was looking tired. Her head leaned back on the couch and her eyes were closed. She looked so exhausted as if she hadn't gotten an ounce of sleep from days.
Leaning my head back I closed my eyes. I couldn't remember anything that happened. The last thing I remember were the multiple sounds of horn and screeching tires. Did I by any chance hurt someone? I tried harder to remember anything.
I dropped Amyrah to her college, then on the way to the office I talked with Waqar. After ending the call there was a red signal but someone kept horning from behind. I looked back to check who it was then everything went blank.
My head started aching while trying to remember it. I shook away these thoughts as it was troubling me. Slowly opening my eyes I looked at Amyrah and started playing with the strands of her hair. She stirred a little and slowly opened her eyes.
Her beautiful russet brown eyes met mine and it widened in shock. She abruptly sat straight looking at me as if not believing her eyes. With a shaky hand she touched my cheek and sucked in a deep breath. She glanced at the room then looked back at me.
"That wasn't a dream?" She asked in a whisper looking at me expectantly, her eyes shining and a beautiful smile adorning her face.
My lips lifted up in a smile looking at her reaction. "No." I whispered back. She glanced at Ammi who was sleeping while sitting with her head resting back on the couch. She then looked at the door then back at me and wrapped her hands around my neck and hugged me tightly.
"Aaban." I heard her whispering. I encircled my arms around her petite form while caressing her back and keeping my face on her shoulder and inhaling her soft rose fragrance.
