I kept trying to say to myself that it will be okay but it was clenching my heart. I never stayed a day without Aaban how am I going to stay 3 days without him? He had to attend a meeting abroad and it is very important for the future of the company.I was pacing in the lawn trying to calm myself down, in two hours he and bade chachu would leave and I was still not mentally prepared for it. It's been two days and Baba was still in the hospital.
"Amyrah." I turned around to look at Chachi. "Jee?" I smiled at her.
"Itna tense kyun ho? Kuch problem hein?" (Why are you so tense? Is there any problem?). She asked, coming towards me.
"Nahi." (No). I shook my head. We were now walking together.
"Aaban ko pheli baar chod kar rahne wali ho?" (Is it going to be your first time staying without Aaban?). She asked in a soft tone and I nodded in response unable to voice out as I'm afraid that my voice might break in between. "Insha Allah 3 days will pass quickly and you will have us by your side."
"Thank you." I was really grateful for it.
"If you want you can even go to your parents' house, I'll talk with bhabhi." As she said I froze in my place. I'll die but never step in that house ever again. "No, I'm comfortable here." I tried to act as casual as I could be.
"As you wish but don't stress out like this. You look beautiful when you smile." She said with a light chuckle making me laugh. "C'mon now let's go inside." She took me with her wrapping her arm around my shoulder.
We stepped inside where both the Phupho were fighting with each other. I froze a little looking at them as the fights from Zahid Bhai's house roamed in my mind. "Don't worry, they become children sometimes." Chachi whispered to me as if she sensed my discomfort.
"Why are they fighting?" I asked in a whisper.
"Fighting?" She chuckled. "They aren't fighting they are just figuring out whose dish they will take to the hospital." I looked at her in disbelief and she laughed looking at my expressions.
"Now go to your husband as he might forget the most important things to pack and I'll go to mine cause most definitely he might be freaking out." She said shaking her head and I giggled.
I ascended up the stairs to our room and entered inside. Aaban was going through some papers and his bag was opened up with clothes sprawled on the entire bed. Chachi was right. I started folding and arranging his things.
The bag was almost packed when his voice rang in my ears. "Amyrah." I turned to look at him. He patted on his lap still looking in the papers. Zipping the bag I walked towards him and sat on his lap leaning on his chest. He unpinned my hijab and started stroking my hair.
His cologne filled my nostrils and I inhaled it closing my eyes. How will he be so fresh all the time? I started playing with his shirt buttons and was getting comfortable on him. He kissed in my hair tightening his hold around me. His other hand was occupied with the papers and I was getting frustrated now.
Taking it away from his hand I slammed the papers on the table and wrapped his hand around me. He let out a throaty chuckle tightening his arms around me and resting his face on top of my head.
We sat there ideally and I kept listening to his heartbeats. It was beating in rhythm and I was counting every beat of it. "Take care of yourself." I mumbled as it finally settled inside me.
"You too, don't skip your meals and don't overthink." He whispered back kissing the tip of my fingers.
I don't know what else to say. Safe journey? I will miss you or come back soon. I don't know, everything is crashing in my mind at a time and I wasn't able to focus on anything. It's a good thing that chachu will be with him and I don't have to worry much.
