AABAN.

Ya rab! I leaned on the dining table trying to control my emotions. I don't want to do this but it is for her betterment. Why can't she understand this. Was I too rude? Did I hurt her? It's eating me alive from inside. I never in my dream imagined talking to her with such sternness.

She clearly wanted to go but I can't allow it. Those toxic people will again inject something in her brain and it will again get a toll on her. I can't afford her mental health for just a few hours of excitement and fake happiness.

Alhamdulillah she is completely fine now and I will never give her permission to destroy it again. Being angry with me is better than allowing her to get those anxiety attacks and enhance her overthinking nature.

I felt a touch on my head and I abruptly sat straight. It was Ammi. She sat on the chair and looked at me.

"Kya hua hein?" (What happened?).

"Kuch nahi." (Nothing). I gave her a small smile, shaking my head in denial.

"Kyun jaane se mana kar rahe ho?" (Why are you refusing to go?). Oh, so she knew it already.

"Bas aisi." (Just).

She made me look at her, holding my face in her palms. "Kyun Aaban?" (Why Aaban?). She asked in a calm tone. I sighed and kept my hand on hers.

"I don't want her to go through all of those things again."

"Aaban, they are her family."

"No they aren't. They just gave birth to her nothing else. They never treated her well, they never gave her a percent of love like you guys gave me. She suffered for just a bare minimum, I'm not gonna let her go through it again. They don't deserve her."

Ammi gave a pitiful smile while caressing my cheek. "They might have realised it."

"No. There might be something else behind it. You know she literally begged them in the hospital but they turned deaf to her pleadings. Ammi, she got a panic attack that day. She was on the hospital bed begging them and what did they do? Nothing."

"I don't have that courage to see her going through it again. She is happy here and living her life peacefully I don't want anything else which will destroy her peace."

"This isn't how things are done Aaban. Give them a chance maybe they changed." She told me calmly but I'm not falling in it.

"She lived with them for almost 19 years they never changed then and now miraculously they got a soft corner for her?"

"Aaban."

"Where were they when I took her with me, did they once try to ask if she is fine or how she is doing. How did they trust her daughter with some unknown guy? They never checked upon her then why now? When she is finally living her life."

"Aaban they are her family..." I cut her sentence in between.

"I'm her family, we are her family. They are nothing."

She released a deep breath and looked at me. "They were away for the first time maybe they started realising it maybe they want to fix everything back. Give them a chance Aaban."
