TW: narrative of a case (kidnapping/   stabbing/ fear)

This is Sergio. He seems to like you." Emily said while the black tomcat strokes my legs. I crouched down and stroked him while Emily vanishes into the kitchen to prepare his food. As she puts it down next to his water bowl, Sergio rushed to the plate as if he hadn't eaten in days.

"You see, he's starving." Emily said with a laugh and went to the kitchen counter, filled her coffee maker with coffee and water and turns it on.
The smell of coffee quickly filled the room and while the machine was gurgling, Emily walks towards me.
I'm standing lost in the entrance to the kitchen, unsure what to do or say, when she simply takes my hand and pulls me into the room.

"Would you like some coffee too?" She asks without looking at me.
"Yes, thank you."

I never want her to let go.

"Make yourself at home."
She points to one of the bar stools at her kitchen island. I sit down and feel small, insecure.

Emily placed milk and a sugar bowl in front of me, followed by a steaming mug of coffee.
She picked up her own mug and a bowl of cookies and balanced them around the kitchen island before plopping down in the chair next to me.
She pours some milk into her coffee and holds it out to me questioningly. I just nod, completely overwhelmed by this care.

What is the catch?

She pours some milk into my cup. I watch the milk mix with the dark coffee and try not to think about the fact that I just had breakfast.

Actually, I would have to wait until tomorrow to eat something again.

Emily sits there, her cup in both hands, one leg bent, the other dangling relaxed from the bar stool, sipping her coffee.

She looks so stunning.

She looks at me, while I take my first sip of coffee. She nods encouragingly and her smile is so caring. I shrink down and start chewing on my bottom lip.

"Why do you care so much about me?"

I realized I said that out loud. I'm blushing and look down at my Hands, feeling stupid and vulnerable.

"Because you're worth it. You deserve someone, who cares about you. Someone who sees you.
I see you, Y/N. I see you and I want you to be happy and safe. I want you to know that."

Tears well up in my eyes.
I don't dare to look up, but I feel her gaze resting on me.

"Do you remember the day the BAU found you? When we were looking for little Liam?" She asks hesitantly.

I look up and meet her gaze. Her dark eyes are full of sadness.
I tried to remember anything. But the day and weeks after that are deeply obscure.

I'm uncomfortable admitting that I don't remember.

How hard can it be to remember something?

"I remember the King came back with Liam and I tried to comfort him... After that everything is a blur..." I admit, tugging at the sleeve of my sweater.

"Do you want to hear it?" She asks calmly, placing a hand on mine.
I'm surprised by her question and only now realize, that she was there too. Somehow I hadn't thought about it before.
I take a deep breath nod slowly.

I need to know what she knows. I need to know what she saw... And I need to know what happened.

I turn toward her, pull one knee to my chest and rest my head on it. I look at her and watch her trying to decide where to start.
