Emily's POV

While we split up to search the area, Tara and JJ came across this weathered basement entrance and we were all quickly sure that that's the Place we were looking for.
Rossi called for backup and an ambulance as we descended the rotten stairs into the darkness.
It smells musty and dusty and an uneasy feeling overcomes me.

At the bottom of the stairs is a large steel door with several locks. They are not locked from the outside, probably because he is currently inside with Y/N.

She has to be here.

After Alvez has pried open the heavy door, I storm past Tara and JJ into the room.
My gaze quickly wanders through the brightly lit basement room.
A guy sits on a chair next to a camera, he looks like the Mr. Black from the photos.
There's a small, slim woman standing next to him. I know her from somewhere, but my fear for Y/N doesn't let me think clearly.
My colleagues point their weapons at the two unsubs, who stare at us somewhat perplexed, obviously not expecting us.

While the two are arrested by my team and I'm sure they'll be fine without me, I don't waste another second.
I holster my gun again and rush over to the nearly naked person sitting slumped in a chair, her hands are pulled up with a chain and held by a hook on the ceiling.
Her head is bowed and she does not react to what is happening around her.

“Y/N?”
I say, my voice shaking as I kneel in front of the chair.
I try not to stare at the numerous wounds, bruises and cuts that cover her body.
Out of the corner of my eye I see that one of her knees is deeply bruised and bloody and looks strangely deformed.

My stomach tightens as I realize the extent of the violence Y/N was subjected to.
A

nd yet I am so incredibly relieved that we found her, there is hope.

Please let her be alive. I can't be too late.

I carefully put a hand on her chin and slowly lift her head to look at her.
Tears well up in my eyes as I see her battered face.
"Y/N? Can you hear me? I'm here."
I say, trying not to sound too desperate so as not to scare her.

She flinches as I place my second hand on her cheek and a small, frightened whimper leaves her lips without her opening her eyes.

I pull my hands back, shocked that I've scared her again.
"Y/N, I'm here. Please look at me, my love. I'm here." I say pleadingly, hoping to get a reaction.

I wish I could just hold her close and never let go, but until she hasn't truly registered me, I don't dare to touch her again.

I'm afraid of frightening her even more.

"I'll give you my jacket, okay? This will get you warmer soon."
Maybe it will help her to hear what I'm doing so she knows she is safe.
I quickly take off my jacket and drape it very gently over Y/N's body, even though it won't warm her much, but at least it covers her a little.
