"Those clouds look so soft, don't they? Like you could just jump down and you'd land in a big, soft, cottony heap," Katara sighs contently, lying on Appas back as they flew through the sky.

"Maybe you should give it a try?" Sokka chuckles.

"Your hilarious," Katara rolls her eyes.

"I'll try it!" Aang laughs loudly, jumping off Appa into the clouds with pure joy.

Iskra, Katara and Sokka race to the edge of Appas saddle, worried for their friend that just jumped and disappeared through a cloud.

A sudden wet plop behind them reveals to be Aang covered in water with a goofy smile on his round face.

"Turns out clouds are made of water," Aang chuckles, drying himself with his airbending.

"Hey what is that?" Katara says slowly, pointing ahead of them.

A giant black scrape buried itself between green mountains and healthy grass, contrasting to the lively colours.

"It's like a scar," Sokka whispers.

"Go down Appa," Aang pats him.

Appa flies towards the sky, landing on one of the many clear patches with no grass or trees. It was disgusting.

"It's so quiet," Sokka says as everyone steps off Appa and looks around. "There's no life anywhere."

The dead, burnt trees haunted Iskra's mind as she stares at them. She couldn't pull her eyes away no matter how much it pained her. A tear slipped past her red eye and she quickly wiped it away, sniffling softly.

"Aang, are you ok?" Katara asks.

"Fire nation! Those evil savages make me sick! They have no respect for-."

Katara cuts of Sokkas rant with a finger to her lips and he immediately stops talking but looks at her with confusion.

"What? Im not allowed to be angry?" Sokka whispers.

Katara points to Aang as he drops to his knees in defeat; ash flicking away from him at the impact.

"Why would anyone do this? How could I let this happen?" Aang sighs.

Iskra's heart pained at Aangs words. How could she agree with what he was saying when she's caused pain to a forest before?

"Aang, you didn't let this happen, it has nothing to do with you," Katara walks towards him.

"Yes it does, it's the avatars job to protect nature, but I don't know how to do my job," Aang rests his head in his hands.

"That's why were going to the North Pole to find you a teacher," Katara smiles.

"Yeah, a waterbending teacher." Aang turns to face her. "But there's no one who can teach me how to be the avatar, Monk Gyatsu said that avatar Roku would help me."

"The avatar before you? He died a hundred years ago how are you supposed to talk to him?" Sokka asks.

"I don't know," Aang sighs again.

Whilst everyone was feeling low and sad, Katara found an acorn, a sign of life and hope for the destroyed forest. Although the acorn wasn't much, it got Aang on his feet and ready to face the day again.
