5 years later
Present day

The skies were beautiful, blue and clear, not a visible cloud. Sun beamed down on the ice, setting a nice warmth to the cold atmosphere.
Everything seemed so perfect. Till the soot came.

Everyone rushed towards the great ice palace, desperate for answers as to why ash fell from the once clear sky. Iskra knew why.

"The day we have feared so long has arrived," The chief spoke as Iskra sat down. "The fire nation is on our doorstep, it is with great sadness I call my family here before me, knowing well that some of these faces are about to vanish from our tribe."

The entire tribe lined up in rows, listening carefully to the chiefs words. Iskra couldn't help but think how was she going to help? They were on pure ice, what was she going to do?

"Now as we approach the battle for our existence, I call upon the great spirits," He rose his hands. "Spirit of the ocean spirit and the moon be with us!"

Calling upon spirits wasn't going to help, they needed to spend this time preparing. Preparing for the war that threatened them.

"I'm going to need volunteers for a dangerous mission."

"Count me in," Sokka stood up immediately.

Other water tribe members stood up in the crowd, volunteering for the chiefs mission with no hesitation.

"Be warned, many of you will not return, come forward to revive my mark if you accept the task," He said.

Everyone who volunteered walked towards him, lining up as he drew 3 red marks on their foreheads.

Iskra, Katara and Aang walked outside, sitting together as they looked out at the ominous sea; knowing ships would soon appear.

"The stillness before battle is unbearable, such a quiet dread," The chief walked up behind them.

"I wasn't there when the fire nation attacked my people, I'm gonna make a difference this time," Aang said.

The way Iskra related to Aang pained her. She knew exactly how he was feeling and he didn't deserve to.

The entire village lined up along the barrier between their tribe and the ocean, awaiting the fire nations arrival. It was riveting.

A lonesome ship was spotted on the horizon, barely able to be seen from the great distant. Orange flame shot from it, launching directly at the tribe.

Iskra jumped off the barrier, raising the earth underneath the sea and standing upon it. Her hands spun in circles, extending out once the fireball reached her and decimating it with ease. The ball fell into the water and everyone cheered behind her.

Fire balls continued to launch and Iskra fought them off as well as she could. Aang left on Appa, heading towards the ships to attack them from there. Waterbenders began to help, cooling the flames whilst Iskra bended the earth into the ocean.

As the sun began to set the fire nation ships stopped their firing, settling in a line far from the tribe. They knew the waterbenders drew they're power from the moon and decided to wait.
