After flying for a couple hours they decided to find shelter for the night. When they landed in an old cave, covered in vines and bugs Sokka began to cough non stop.
He claimed his entire body felt like it was on fire but that he was also freezing. Iskra helped him into his sleeping bag, zipping it up so he can sweat out the fever.
"This should help bring your fever down," Katara holds a damp cloth to Sokkas forehead.
"You know what I love about Appa the most?" Sokka shivers. "His sense of humour."
"That's nice, I'll tell him," Katara whispers.
"And Iskra's smooth voice, she always knows the right thing to say," Sokka grins giddily.
Iskra smiles at Sokka before facing Katara with wide eyes. He's truly lost his mind. Appa roars softly making Sokka laugh.
"Classic Appa," He chuckled. "Don't you think Iskra?"
"How's Sokka doing?" Aang asks, walking towards them with a map in hand.
"Not so good, being out in that storm really did a number on him," Katara says softly.
"I couldn't find any ginger root for the tea but I found a map," Aang spreads the map out on the floor and Katara walks over to him to see.
"Hey Iskra, I really wish I knew more about you," Sokka smiles, sniffling.
Iskra smiles back, stroking his face comfortingly as she applies more pressure to the damp cloth on his forehead.
"There's a herbalist institute on the top of that mountain, we could probably find a cure for Sokka there," Aang suggest.
"He's in no condition to travel, Sokka just needs more rest, I'm sure he'll be better by tomorrow," Katara promises but coughs as soon as she finishes her sentence.
"Not you too," Aang sighs.
"Relax, it was just a little cough, I'm fin-."
Katara is cut off by another string of coughs as she slumps against Appa. Iskra backs away from her, if this is contagious she doesn't want to catch it.
"That's how Sokka started, now look at him, he thinks he's an earthbender," Aang points to the delusional Sokka.
"Take that you rock," Sokka throws his hands in the air. "Was that good Iskra?"
"A few more hours and you'll be talking nonsense too, I'm going to find some medicine," Aang grabs his glider, preparing to fly but a lightning strike makes him decide to walk in stead. "Keep an eye on them Iskra but try not to get sick."
Iskra sighed, smiling at her sick friends as she sits in between them, holding damp cloths on both of their heads.
"Will you tell us a lullaby Iskra?" Sokka whispers.
Iskra stops smiling, looking at Sokka with pity. He's sick and asking her to do the one thing she can't do.
"I'd like that," Katara smiles.
