1 year later

"You must feel the fire around you, channel the heat into your fingertips and control it carefully," Jeong Jeong circled his students, advising carefully.

They lined up in rows, practising the same movements time and time again under their masters teachings.

"Widen your stance," Jeong Jeong said subtly as he walked past Iskra and she obeyed.

After training for a year Iskra's firebending had improved well. She trained after school everyday and saw her father on Thursdays if he had time.

Kids at school didn't make fun of her anymore, they avoided her instead from fear. She had no friends anymore, refusing to speak with Zuko after betraying her trust. She hated him almost as much as she missed him.

"Master Jeong Jeong," Zhaos loud voice interrupted his teachings.

The students stayed facing forward, ignoring the distraction and staying loyal to Jeong Jeongs orders.

"Commander Zhao, this is a closed training, you aren't permitted to be here," Jeong Jeong spoke calmly.

"Fire Lord Ozai is displeased with the avatars firebending, he has insisted on providing a better teacher for her as she is progressing too slowly," Zhao smirked.

"Iskra is progressing at an extremely acceptable pace, she's second in the class-."

"Second? How disappointing" Zhao interrupts. "No Avatar should be second."

"Out of thirty kids, second is exquisite," He defends.

Zhao sighs, rolling his eyes as he hands Jeong Jeong a roll of paper. "Orders form the Fire Lord that I am now in charge of the avatars trainings."

"She's a child," Jeong Jeong, scrunches up the paper.

"She's my child," Zhao spits. "You may leave."

Jeong Jeong was displeased to say the least. Zhao wasn't a good enough firebending teacher for the avatar, never will be. Nonetheless, he still left.

"Let's start with some sparring shall we? See what you can do?" Zhao turned to the students. "Who is first in the class?"

A buff boy raises his hand, reaching higher than others due to his older age. Iskra cowered behind him, not wanting to be seen by her fathers shameful gaze.

"Your name?" Zhao asked.

"Kaito," He said proudly.

"You and Iskra will spar first," Zhao commanded.

Iskra froze, breathing heavily. She stepped out from the group, following the boy and standing across from one another.

"Watch closely students," Zhao said as they sat.

They bowed before each other, readying their stances and waiting for Zhaos approval to begin their fight.

"No earthbending Iskra, cheaters disgust me," He said plainly. "Begin."

Kaito launched his fire at Iskra and she barely deflected it, stumbling back as he did so. He ran at her, throwing punch after punch at her thin body. Iskra winced, trying her best to block his hits but he was too strong.
