Iskra's head rested comfortable on Zukos chest as he held her close. Everyone slept on Appas warm fur instead of setting up camp.
Her ears flicker at a distance sound, like a rumble far, far away. It could be nothing, but she had to check. Slowly, she pulled her body from Zuko's arms, feet meeting the ground as she crouched outside of Tophs make shift tent from rocks.
Toph felt Iskra's presence, lowering the small walls and sitting up in front of her friend.
"Do you feel that?" Iskra whispered.
With in a second both girls stood instantly, back to back as they readied into an offence stand. Fire swarmed everyone, expanding largely to not harm anyone entrapped in the circle.
The others woke up, jumping off Appa and gathering together as they waited for the threat to appear.
Zuko and Iskra moved in front, circling their hands before exhaling deeply and drawing away the fire that surrounded them till it disappeared.
A loud snorting chuckle ranged out and caused all eyes to drift up. On a pile of rocks stood Bumi, Jeong Jeong, Pakku and Piandao.
A smile couldn't help but break out onto her face when she saw Bumi; the king who believed in her when no one else did. Her eyes then followed to Jeong Jeong; the man who taught her firebending didn't have to be harmful.
"What's going on? Why are we surrounded by old people?" Toph asked once they stood in front of them.
"Not just any old people, these are great masters and friends of ours," Katara walked towards them, bowing to Pakku.
"It is respectful to bow to an old master, but how about a hug for your new grandfather?" Pakku smiled.
"That's so exciting!" Katara cheered when she realised Pakku and Gran Gran were together again. "You guys must be so happy to have found each other again."
"I made her a new betrothal necklace and everything," He added happily.
Sokka jumped onto him, arms wrapping around as he smiled wifey. "Welcome to the family Gramp Gramp!"
"You can still just call me Pakku?" He pushed Sokka away gently.
"And this was Aang's fire firebending teacher," Katara introduces the next old man.
"Jeong Jeong," he nods at the others before turning to Iskra. "It's good to see you again."
"It's good to see you too," Iskra bows.
"We must talk soon," Jeong Jeong whispers firmly, a cold serious laced behind his voice.
"Master Piandao," Sokka bowed to his master.
"Hello Sokka," Master Piandao nodded.
Bumi snorted again, grabbing Iskra's attention as they hugged with smiles. He pulled away first, squeezing her biceps.
"You've gotten stronger," he chuckles. "I've been keeping tabs on your earthbending, very nice."
"So wait, how do you know each other?" Suki asked.
"All old people know each other don't you know that?" Bumi snorted again with his laugh.
"We're all part of the same ancient secret society, a group that transcends the divisions of the four nations," Piandao explains.
"The Order of the White Lotus," Zuko realised.
"The White Lotus has always been about philosophy and beauty and truth," Jeong Jeong adds. "But about a month ago, a call went out that we were needed for something important.."
