Vast colours occupied the sky during the suns descent. Creating a beautiful and contrasting setting to gaze upon with nothing but pure heart.
Zuko and Katara had returned, she even forgave him. But Iskra needed time to herself, needed to breathe for a second.
The grass itched at her hands which she leaned back on, admiring the scene before her whilst she was admired. He met the ground next to her, sighing at the situation they found themselves in yet again like there was no escape.
"I'm sorry," Zuko whispered.
"What for?" Iskra asked plainly.
"I was so focused on receiving Kataras apology that I was willing to do anything for it," He itched the back of his neck.
"I'm not mad," She shook her head.
It was true, she wasn't.
"Then what's wrong?" He itched closer to her.
His hand closed around hers and she gladly accepted it, squeezing it tightly. Zuko smiled, kissing her forehead. If only he knew what she was thinking.
She looked away again, facing the horizon as he gazed upon the side of her face like she was a blossoming cherry tree in spring. Beautiful.
"I can't remember her name," Iskra whispered painfully.
"Issy," Zuko squeezed her hand tighter.
"She could be alive and I don't even know her name, let alone where to look for her," She sniffled.
"She is alive," Zuko reassured her.
Tears brimmed as her mouth quivered, she faced him, sniffling softly as she held back the cry.
"No she's not," her head shook. "I went back to my village after I escaped and she wasn't there, no one was."
"They probably moved incase the fire nation came back," He moved closer to her.
"No, she would've stayed, she would've waited for me," Iskra wiped her eyes.
"Iskra, if she has passed it is not your fault whatsoever and if she is alive we will find her," Zuko promised.
She nodded slowly, chewing her bottom lip and tasting her tears. The lowering sun caught her eye again, she smiled softly.
"My mum use to make these noodles every year on my birthday, they were basic and poor in flavour but every birthday we would eat them and watch the sunset," Iskra smiled at the memory.
Zuko nodded, expressing his infinite interest in what she had to say.
"Even if she is alive I don't know how to find her," She accepted. "She could be anywhere."
"Then we will search everywhere, I promise we'll find her," Zuko wiped a tear that fell from her eyes.
She offered him a smile; trying to portray bravery and joy. He saw through her facade almost instantly.
"I don't know if I want to find her," Iskra looked to the sun again, too ashamed to meet his eyes.
"Why not?" He asked lowly, squeezing her hand.
"Because what if she hates me?" She shrugged softly.
"How could she hate you?" Zuko whispered with a sigh, the thought of her feeling insecure paining him.
"I destroyed earth kingdoms, I killed innocent people," Iskra said roughly, looking at him. "I'm a monster."
"No your not," Zuko cupped her face instantly. "Never say that again, you are not a monster, they forced you to do those things."
