The sky fell with chaos, attacking it's surroundings with flames of heat. A rare solar eclipse caused the day of black sun, a perfect opportunity to take down the fire nation once and for all.
An invasion plan was made months ago and after many delays they finally arrived; ready to destroy and take back what they deserved. The invasion force was ready to destroy.
Only they failed.
Azula knew of their plans and constructed every move like a game of chess to protect Fire Lord Ozai. She was the queen, but the king got all the glory.
Fear caved Sokkas mind from realisation they weren't going to defeat the fire lord, his attention shifted to escaping. They had submarines at the beach, waiting for them to escape in but the distance was far. Too far.
Desperate to get away before things became violent, everyone fled. However, it was already too late. As the fire nation air balloons rose from the palace, releasing bombs on the invasion force below. Toph bended the earth to shield them from the numerous rocks, providing cover.
Katara and Aang joined the sky, taking down as many balloons as they could, but there was too many. They couldn't do it. The bombs came to a halt, the ships passed over their heads and the cover fell.
"Why aren't they turning back to attack us again?" Katara asked as her and Aang landed next to Sokka and Toph.
"They're headed for the beach," he realised. "They're going to destroy the submarines!"
"How are we all going to escape," Sokka sighed, disappointed in the failure of his plan more so than the failure of the invasion.
If it were just Sokka, Katara, Aang and Toph they'd be fine. But they had the southern water tribe warriors, multiple earthbenders and even a few waterbenders they met in a swamp. They needed the submarines to escape but they weren't going to get to them in time.
"We're not," Hakoda; Sokka and Kataras father limped towards them.
"Then our only choice is to stand and fight, we have the avatar, we could still win," Sokka was determined.
"Yes, with the avatar we could still win," Hakoda slowly stood up. "On another day-."
His voice was cut off by a sudden thump in the earth, a mighty one, a rage full one that shook the surrounding mountains and bended them into submission.
"Was that you Toph?" Aang asked with hope.
"No, it came from there," She pointed to a cliff side, looking the other way.
Everyone's heads turned liked a canon, eyes zooming in on what made the noise. Even the air balloons faltered, curious of the ominous sound.
Roughly, the edge of the cliff stretched out, propelling a body forward and striking through the air with accuracy. Too distant to see but too strong to be disregarded, they landed in between the invasion force and the beach.
When their bruised feet scraped the earth it rambled; striking up in a ripple from the impact. Columns of earth began to raise, each one impaling a balloon and taking it down.
As the balloons descended, the ground opened. It split in half, the crust of the earth cracking under their pressure and precision bending. Multiple of the balloons landed on the submarines, destroying them before the earth swallowed each one, squeezing them into the ground without a hint of mercy.
Armies of soldiers erupted from the descended balloons, firing at the fierce bender. They slid one foot back quickly, picking up the earth under every firebender and plummeting them into the air.
