I nervously fussed with Ramin's tie as we made the trip up to our hotel room, which was located on the top floor.

I was trying my hardest to tame the anxiety that was rising up in me, but I knew that I was inevitably going to suffer from a panic attack.

"We're almost to our room, Ave," he said softly, kissing my forehead. "Just hang in there."

I gripped onto him harder and buried my face in his chest, trying to hide the fearful tears that were running down my cheeks.

He soothingly rubbed my back with his hand and rested his chin on the top of my head.

Once the elevator doors opened, I held onto Ramin's bicep and walked down the aisle with hurried steps.

He took out the room key from his pocket and unlocked the door as soon as he was within reach.

I rushed into the bedroom and sat down on the bed, curling myself tightly into a ball.

Ramin slid off his suit jacket and undid his tie, throwing them, along with his dress shoes, into a pile by the bed.

He climbed on behind me and pulled my tense body into his chest.

"Hey, hey," he whispered. "Calm down, Avery. You're okay."

I was getting light-headed from hyperventilating for so long, and my heart felt like it was going to burst at any moment.

"I don't know what to do," I muttered, my chattering teeth barely letting me get the words out.

"Just take some deep breaths for me," he replied calmly. "I promise it'll help you."

"No, it won't," I shook my head. "I'm too far down in my anxiety for it to help me."

"Don't say that," Ramin told me firmly. "We've always gotten through this, and we're going to do it again."

I wanted to protest heavily, but he would not let me speak unless it was something positive, so I decided to keep my mouth shut.

His lips brushed against my skin as he placed a kiss on my cheek, and I sighed at his gentle touch.

I could also hear him faintly humming a tune that I did not recognize, but his sweet voice lured me into a calming trance that slowed down my rapid breathing.

Ever so slowly, he wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me down onto the bed with him.

His body was close to mine, and he pressed tender kisses all over my tear-stained face.

"There you go," he said in a comforting tone. "That's my girl."

I breathed in his cologne and moved my fingers along his shoulders.

"Thank you for being here, Ramin."

"Of course, my Angel."

Ramin then kissed my forehead tenderly and lulled me to sleep with his beautiful, hypnotizing voice.
