Abigail had just finished treating one of her patients when she felt a tap on her shoulder.
She glanced behind her to see Kian standing there, smiling as always.
There was no denying that he was an incredibly handsome man, and she had to keep herself together as she said, "Hello, Kian."
"Good to see you, Abby," he smirked. "You've been working hard, I see."
"I'm only doing what the job entails me to do," Abigail shrugged. "I'm sure that you're working just as hard."
Kian crossed his muscular arms over his chest and said, "I'd like to say I was, but I tend to be a bit more lazy than most."
"Shocking," she replied sarcastically.
He laughed at her response, then paused a moment before asking, "Are you doing anything tonight?"
Abigail raised her eyebrow at the sudden subject change and said, "My shift is until 6 P.M., so I shouldn't be doing much. Why do you ask?"
"Well, I was wondering if you'd want to go out and get dinner after you're finished," Kian replied in a casual tone. "My shift also stops at 6 P.M., so I thought it would be good timing."
Her mouth hung slightly open as she processed his words, and it took her a second to say something back.
When she found her words, she asked quietly, "Are you saying that you want to go out on a date with me?"
He shrugged nonchalantly.
"You are quite beautiful, I must admit. I also like your cheery personality."
She blushed and looked down at her feet, suddenly feeling shy.
"No one's ever said that to me before," she muttered.
She didn't see his immediate reaction, but her heart started to beat faster when she felt his hand under her chin, turning her head so that she could look at him.
His brown eyes were gentle as he said, "Then let me be the first."
Abigail's breath hitched in her throat at his words, and she thought she was going to pass out from a serious lack of oxygen.
She was stunned into silence, and Kian smiled before placing a small kiss on her head.
"I'll see you tonight," he said, letting his hand linger on her skin for the tiniest bit.
He then walked away and left her standing in the middle of the busy hallway, rendering her speechless.
The only words that popped up in her brain were Oh my God.
