I sat in the small audience and watched Ramin as he sang "The Point of No Return".
The band softly played behind him, letting his voice flow through the air for everyone to hear.
Chills ran down my spine at the passionate lyrics he was singing, and I wanted nothing more than to kiss him in that moment.
As if he had read my mind, he suddenly glanced over in my direction and extended his hand out.
"Come to me, Angel of Music," Ramin said with a smile.
Everyone turned around or leaned forward to look at me, and my face became bright red from embarrassment.
What're you doing? I yelled inwardly. Don't you know I have terrible stage fright?
His fingers twitched the slightest bit, gesturing for me to come on stage.
I sighed loudly and got up from my chair, trying to ignore my shaky hands.
I plastered a fake smile on my face and tried to act nonchalant, but I knew I was failing miserably.
Ramin took my hand in his once I was close enough, and he introduced me as his "lover and Angel of Music".
I shyly waved to the audience, then turned my face away from them.
He quickly noticed my reaction and asked worriedly, "Are you alright?"
I shook my head.
"Get me off the stage."
"Okay," he nodded, motioning for a staff member to lead me off.
I didn't bother to wait for the unnamed man, so I hurried off the stage and retreated into a corner.
My heart was beating so fast that I instinctually grabbed my chest and forced it to slow down.
I could feel my emotions spinning like a whirlwind in my head, and I choked down a cry of humiliation.
People were looking at me with concern on their faces, but I waved them off each time they tried to help me.
There was a pause outside on stage, and I assumed the music was going to start at any moment, but nothing happened.
Suddenly, there were quick footsteps coming my way, and I glanced up to see Ramin kneeling down in front of me.
"I'm so sorry," he said, his voice slightly cracking. "I didn't realize you were so scared of being on stage."
"Leave me alone," I mumbled, curling my knees up to my chest.
"I'm not leaving you back here," he replied firmly. "You are more important than this show."
I said nothing and hid my face from him.
Ramin sighed, thought for a moment, and then he sat down next to me.
He wrapped his arm around my waist and laid my head on his shoulder.
"I'm staying here until I know you're going to be okay."
I wanted to say something, but he stopped me when he placed a kiss on my forehead, and I held back my comments.
His presence quickly soothed me, and I was grateful for his undying love.
